Song Hye Kyo celebrated her 43rd birthday on November 22.
On Instagram, Song Hye Kyo often shares moments of indulging in ice cream and sweets – foods that accelerate skin aging due to the sugar content, which increases glycation reactions and the formation of AGEs. However, according to Woman, the following habits have contributed to her flawless and youthful-looking skin.
1. Sunscreen
Applying sunscreen is a non-negotiable daily routine for Song Hye Kyo. Regardless of the weather, she always protects her skin from the harmful effects of UV rays. This habit plays a significant role in preventing skin aging, maintaining an even skin tone, and preserving a fresh and healthy complexion.
The actress’s minimal makeup look showcases her radiant skin in her 40s.
2. Milk Cleansing
Cleansing her face with milk is considered the “key” to maintaining the soft and glowing skin of the beauty born in 1981. Song Hye Kyo typically uses unsweetened milk, warmed to about 32 degrees Celsius, and applies it to her face after cleansing. She soaks a cotton pad in milk and gently pats it onto her skin, followed by a massage to enhance absorption.
Milk contains AHA and lactic acid, which provide a deep cleanse and exfoliating effect, resulting in smoother skin. The abundant vitamin B, D, and E content in milk also helps remove pigmentation, fade dark spots, and even out skin tone.
3. Sleeping Masks
In Song Hye Kyo’s skincare routine, moisturizing is a crucial step. She applies a sleeping mask every night to ensure her skin is nourished and restored while she sleeps. This moisturizing habit is especially important during dry weather, helping to prevent dry and chapped skin effectively.
Song Hye Kyo has been dubbed the ‘vampire’ of the Korean entertainment industry due to her unchanged appearance over the years.
4. ‘Vitamin C in the Morning, Vitamin A in the Evening’
The actress also revealed that her skincare routine always includes two key ingredients: vitamin C and vitamin A. “Due to my busy schedule, precise and effective skincare is a must for me. I use vitamin C serum in the morning to maintain a dewy complexion and retinol at the end of the day to complete the anti-aging process,” she shared.
Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that shields the skin from free radical damage, sun exposure, and environmental aggressors. It also boosts collagen production, increasing skin elasticity and promoting a firmer and smoother complexion.
Vitamin A promotes the production of healthy skin cells and strengthens the skin’s protective barrier, reducing the impact of UV rays. In skincare products, vitamin A is commonly found in the form of retinol, which stimulates collagen synthesis, improving skin elasticity, filling in wrinkles, and preventing signs of aging. Retinol is also used to treat acne and improve pigmentation issues like melasma.
Since her divorce from Song Joong Ki in 2019, Song Hye Kyo has become more private about her personal life but remains active in the fashion industry, gracing international events and magazine covers. Her estimated net worth is $20 million.
Song Hye Kyo was born in 1981 and began her career as a model before transitioning into acting at the age of 16. In 2000, she rose to stardom with her leading role in the drama ‘Autumn in My Heart’. She went on to star in ‘All In’ (2003), ‘Full House’ (2004), ‘Descendants of the Sun’ (2016), and most recently, ‘The Glory’ (2023). Last year, she won the Baeksang Arts Award for Best Actress for her role as a woman struggling with abuse in ‘The Glory’.
