Khánh Thi has been juggling multiple roles and responsibilities. She is a coach and planner for several national athletes, the Dean of Culture and Arts at the University of Economics and Finance in Ho Chi Minh City, and a judge for both domestic and international competitions, which often requires her to travel abroad. Despite her busy schedule, her top priority is ensuring she spends quality time with her family.

When asked about her current life, Khánh Thi tearfully shared her thoughts about her children.

During the interview, she couldn’t hold back her emotions as she talked about her three children, Kubi, Anna, and Lisa. She feels that her busy schedule has taken away time from them.

Khánh Thi confessed, “When I was pregnant and gave birth, I was always very busy. My life is fulfilling, and many people praise me, but they don’t see that I don’t have much time for my children.

I am fortunate to have a loving and supportive husband and in-laws who help me pursue my career. But whenever I teach other children, I feel guilty that I’m not spending enough time teaching and being with my own children. Kubi and Anna have never had the opportunity to learn dancing from their parents.”

Moreover, as the wife of Phan Hiển, she expressed her concerns about their son Kubi becoming a world champion at such a young age. Instead of boasting about his achievements, the dancer couple chose to downplay his success, fearing that it might spoil him. However, she also shared her sorrow that Kubi rarely receives praise from his parents, despite his hard work and achievements compared to his peers.

Khánh Thi further elaborated, “Kubi has achieved more than we ever expected. He is the youngest Vietnamese athlete to become a world champion, not once but twice. Both my husband and I have our strengths and weaknesses as parents. One of our strengths is that we don’t boast about our son’s achievements, but our weakness is that we don’t praise him enough.

I don’t want him to know that he is a world champion and that the whole country is praising him. I’m afraid that this might go to his head and change him for the worse. However, I realize that for non-celebrity families, sharing their children’s achievements is a source of happiness and pride. But for us, we have to hold back these emotions, and sometimes I feel sorry for Kubi.”

She continued, “Recently, my husband and Kubi participated in a competition, and I was one of the judges. I didn’t want to give them special treatment, so I kept my distance. Kubi competed from morning till night and won six gold medals, but all I could do was smile. I wanted to congratulate him, but I held back because there were dozens of other children participating.”

Khánh Thi couldn’t openly celebrate her son’s six gold medals.

Kubi, whose real name is Minh Cường (born in 2015), has been making headlines for his remarkable achievements in dancesport. At just nine years old, he has already won the world championship twice in the Syllabus World Championship in 2023 and 2024.

Recalling his second world championship victory, Khánh Thi shared, “Once again, Kubi and his partner made us proud, and we got to hear the Vietnamese national anthem being played. I was at home, following the competition at 3 am, and I couldn’t help but cry.”

In addition to his world championship titles, Kubi has consistently won medals in various dancesport competitions, both domestically and internationally, making his parents incredibly proud.

Kubi’s impressive achievements show that he’s following in his parents’ footsteps.

Khánh Thi is always proud to talk about her son.

Recently, Khánh Thi and Phan Hiển’s son, Kubi, has been undergoing a growth spurt. Since the beginning of 2024, Kubi has noticeably grown taller and more mature.

As he grows, Kubi is becoming more and more handsome, resembling his father. Even Phan Hiển acknowledges that his son is a “carbon copy” of himself, and perhaps even better. He affectionately calls Kubi an “upgraded version” of himself.

Their family welcomed a new addition, baby Lisa, in 2023, completing their family with three wonderful children—Kubi, Anna, and Lisa.
