How to Cook Tasty Pork Rib and Bamboo Shoot Soup
Step 1: Prepare the ingredients
First, wash the dried bamboo shoots and soak them in water for about 20 minutes until they soften. Rinse and squeeze out the excess water.
Then, bring a pot of water to a boil over high heat for approximately 2 minutes. Blanch the bamboo shoots for 2 minutes, then rinse and squeeze out the water thoroughly.
Next, heat a pan with 1/2 tablespoon of cooking oil. Add the blanched bamboo shoots and 1/2 tablespoon of seasoning powder. Sauté over low heat for about 3 minutes, or until the seasoning is well-absorbed. Turn off the heat and set aside.
Step 2: Remove the odor from the pork ribs
Pork ribs tend to have a strong smell. To eliminate this, wash them with a diluted salt water solution and then rinse thoroughly with water. To further remove any lingering odor, rub the ribs with a mixture of vinegar and grated ginger for about 5 minutes, and then rinse again.
Step 3: Cook the bamboo shoot soup
In a pot, heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and add the chopped shallots and garlic. Sauté over low heat until fragrant, and then add the pork ribs. Continue cooking for about 3 minutes, or until the ribs are slightly browned.
Pour 600ml of water into the pot and simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes, or until the ribs are tender. Add the sautéed bamboo shoots, 1/2 tablespoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of seasoning powder, 1/2 teaspoon of MSG, and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the bamboo shoots to soften. Adjust the seasoning to your taste and turn off the heat.
Finally, add 1/2 tablespoon of fish sauce to enhance the aroma. Your delicious soup is now ready to be served!
Step 4: The final product
The Dry Bamboo Shoot Soup with Pork Ribs will entice you with its mouthwatering aroma, a perfect blend of fish sauce and sautéed shallots and garlic.
