Susie attributes her youthful complexion not to any expensive supplements but to two significant lifestyle changes.

1. Diet

Protein-rich foods are generally the building blocks for natural collagen production.

I maintain a healthy diet, incorporating fish, bone broth, and chicken to boost my natural collagen levels,” reveals the ageless beauty expert in her 40s.

Water-dwelling creatures are abundant sources of amino acids such as glycine and proline, which are essential for collagen synthesis in the skin. Fatty fish like salmon, tuna, and sardines are particularly rich in healthy fats that benefit the skin by reducing inflammation, protecting existing collagen from damage, and improving skin elasticity.

Whether it’s pork or chicken bones, collagen, vitamins, and amino acids are released after hours of simmering, making bone broth an excellent collagen-boosting option. Chicken is also a rich source of protein and glucosamine (a compound found in joint cartilage), providing ample collagen to promote skin and hair health.

2. Stress Management

The next thing is stress management. Controlling stress is very important because it affects my skin and my eczema flare-ups,” Susie explains.

Prolonged stress can release hormones that break down collagen fibers, leading to a loss of skin elasticity and the formation of wrinkles. Stress is also a primary contributor to inflammation, accelerating the aging process. Inflammation often manifests as redness, swelling, and the exacerbation of skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis, as Susie has personally experienced.

Chronic stress and anxiety accelerate the aging process, so prioritizing mental health and cultivating a positive, joyful attitude are crucial aspects of rejuvenation.

In addition to these two primary lifestyle changes, Susie shares that her skincare routine focuses on restoring the skin’s protective barrier. She uses vitamin C serum every morning and resveratrol in the evening. “I also use a gentle retinol eye cream and a peptide moisturizer. Occasionally, I’ll use a retinol mask. I exfoliate with AHA 2-3 times a week to accelerate cell renewal,” Susie reveals her personalized skincare regimen.
