Opal Suchata Chuangsri, the newly crowned Miss World Thailand, is an avid traveler and lifestyle enthusiast. With a substantial online following of over 800,000, she often shares glimpses of her adventures and culinary explorations on her social media platforms.

Opal is a proud advocate for domestic tourism. Last month, she embodied Tungsathewi, the goddess of Songkran, during the festive water festival that ushers in the Thai New Year. Adorned in traditional attire and carried on a flower palanquin, she was warmly welcomed by the locals.

Songkran, Thailand’s traditional New Year celebration, usually falls in mid-April and is renowned for its exuberant water-splashing festivities. Beyond the revelry, the festival holds a profound cultural significance, symbolizing the washing away of the previous year’s misfortunes and welcoming a year of prosperity and happiness. Thais and visitors alike immerse themselves in the joyous atmosphere, dousing each other with water as a gesture of goodwill.

Opal prioritizes domestic travel destinations, opting for local resorts instead of overseas trips. This February, she vacationed at the luxurious Four Seasons resort in Koh Samui, an idyllic tropical island off Thailand’s eastern shore. Koh Samui captivates visitors with its pristine white sands, azure waters, and lush coconut groves.

Koh Samui also boasts a plethora of upscale, internationally acclaimed resorts, offering modern amenities and opulent accommodations. Visitors can indulge in secluded beachfront villas, pampering spa treatments, and exquisite dining experiences within this tropical paradise.

In October 2024, Opal and her friends escaped to Phuket, checking into the renowned beachfront Café Del Mar. Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, captivates visitors with its diverse attractions, from the vibrant Patong Beach and serene Kata and Karon beaches to the majestic limestone cliffs and the breathtakingly beautiful Andaman Sea.

Opal’s affinity for her hometown, Nong Khai, is evident in her frequent visits and promotions. During one such trip in September last year, she explored the famous Nong Khai night market by the river. Nong Khai, nestled in northeastern Thailand along the Mekong River, exudes a tranquil ambiance and boasts unique temples and bustling border markets.

South Korea is among Opal’s favorite travel destinations. In January 2024, she rang in the New Year in the vibrant city of Seoul, indulging in shopping sprees and culinary delights.

During this trip, Opal savored an array of Korean specialties, including bulgogi (grilled meat), seafood pajun (savory pancakes), kimchi, kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), and the ubiquitous soju. She even ventured to try sannakji, a daring dish of live octopus.

Among her favorite Korean dishes are suyuk, a boiled or steamed pork dish served with fresh kimchi, radish kimchi, raw garlic, green chili peppers, and ssamjang (a thick, savory bean paste), and sundae, a type of blood sausage stuffed with glass noodles, glutinous rice, pig’s blood, and vegetables, often enjoyed with salted pepper or tteokbokki sauce. Sundae is a popular street food and a staple in Korean households.

Opal embarked on a journey to Japan in March this year, starting in the bustling Shinjuku district of Tokyo, known for its vibrant dining and entertainment scene. She then traveled to Nagoya, a city in central Japan.

During her time in Japan, Opal savored Tendon, a popular Japanese rice bowl dish. The name ‘Tendon’ combines ‘Tenpura’ (tempura) and ‘Donburi’ (rice bowl). This delectable dish consists of a large bowl of steamed rice topped with various types of tempura, usually shrimp and vegetables, and a sweet and savory sauce that permeates the entire dish with flavor.

In November 2023, Opal ventured to Central America, specifically El Tunco Beach in El Salvador, just an hour’s drive from the capital, San Salvador. Renowned as one of the top surfing destinations in the region, El Tunco attracts surfing enthusiasts from around the globe. Characterized by its black sand and large rocks, a result of volcanic activity, the beach offers a unique landscape. Beyond surfing, El Tunco also boasts a small coastal town with a lively atmosphere, complete with vibrant restaurants and bars.

Opal also explored the streets of Los Angeles during her travels.
