Aiden recently made a rare media appearance, joining his mother, diva Hong Nhung, at an event launching her new music in Ho Chi Minh City. The twin siblings, now 13 years old, have undergone noticeable changes in their appearance and personalities.

Aiden, notably taller than his sister and mother, sported a new, short hairstyle, looking smart and handsome. He seemed to have matured, his eyes attentively following his mother’s every move during the event. Meanwhile, Lea exuded a dynamic and unique aura but appeared shy and reserved in the crowd.

The twin siblings, affectionately nicknamed “Tom” and “Tep” by their mother, were there to support their mother. They have grown significantly and continue to develop their distinct personalities.

Aiden, who used to have long hair, recently opted for a style change after his mother’s diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer.

Aiden, pictured here in February 2024, was shorter than his mother at the time. However, within a year, he had surpassed her in height.

Now 13 years old, the diva’s children reside with her in Ho Chi Minh City. They primarily communicate with their mother in English, although Hong Nhung has taught them both English and Vietnamese to ensure they remain connected to their cultural roots. Additionally, the twins have begun learning French as a third language.

Beyond nurturing their personal interests, Hong Nhung has prioritized her children’s artistic development. Aiden and Lea started learning art and playing musical instruments at a young age. By the age of seven, Aiden could play the piano, violin, and saxophone, studying under the renowned saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan. Lea, on the other hand, exhibits a talent for painting. Hong Nhung often shares on her personal page that she limits her children’s screen time, only allowing the use of computers for studying. She frequently takes them on domestic and international trips to expose them to diverse cultures and nature.

The twins, of mixed Vietnamese and American heritage, have been encouraged to engage with art from a young age.

It is known that Hong Nhung’s son has been a vegetarian since childhood. “Although they are twins, Tom and Tep have distinct personalities. Tep enjoys eating meat and fish, while Tom prefers a vegetarian diet of vegetables and nuts. On the balcony, Tom grows vegetables, and Tep cultivates flowers. Tep’s flower pot recently bloomed beautifully due to her attention to sunlight exposure,” shared Hong Nhung.

The diva once confided, “Only when my children grew up did I truly understand the saying, ‘They grow up so fast.’ Not only have they surpassed my height at the age of ten, but they have also started to form their own opinions and argue them eloquently. We can discuss and debate in Vietnamese, English, or even French, and I must admit that in the latter, they have the upper hand. It seems that only when it comes to nature do they still listen to my suggestions.”

At the beginning of 2025, Hong Nhung startled the entertainment industry by revealing her battle with breast cancer, sharing her journey after a period of private treatment. For her, facing and fighting the disease was not easy, but she wanted to inspire and motivate other women facing similar challenges. She stated, “Despite my cancer diagnosis, I remain calm and accept reality, trusting in the expertise of my doctors. I undergo treatment with gratitude and aim to spread positive energy.”

Hong Nhung maintains a positive attitude and continues to work on high-quality music projects while undergoing treatment.

Regarding her current health, Hong Nhung shared that she strictly adheres to a specific diet and undergoes radiation therapy as part of her breast cancer treatment. Her meals are supervised to ensure adequate nutrition to maintain her physical well-being. Occasionally, she experiences fatigue, nausea, and body aches but remains optimistic.

During a media interaction about her new music project, Tu Hoi, Hong Nhung surprised everyone by revealing that she had undergone surgery just a month prior. Due to the intense work schedule, which included being suspended in the air at a height of nearly 10 meters, she had to be hospitalized after completing the project to get her surgical wound sutured. Furthermore, there were moments during her treatment when she struggled with depression, but she overcame it by regularly visiting dance studios and drawing strength from her junior colleagues in the industry.

Hong Nhung shared a photo of herself on a hospital bed at the beginning of 2025, shocking the Vietnamese entertainment industry.

People often say that singer Hong Nhung is a source of positive inspiration for over 40 years, and I used to think so too. But when adversity struck, I realized that all the love and encouragement from those around me are the true sources of positive energy. Their support gives me the strength to overcome the most challenging moments and inspires me as an artist to continue creating,” shared Hong Nhung.

When asked about the impact of her illness on her singing voice, Hong Nhung assured that her voice remains as beautiful as ever, and her breathing technique hasn’t changed as it is a part of her life. “Technique is insignificant; it’s merely a tool. What matters is what you convey through it. After experiencing life’s challenges, my singing has evolved because I have changed as a person, and my perspective on life and gratitude have deepened. I realize how insignificant I am, even smaller than a speck of dust,” shared the diva.
