Retail Electricity Prices
Residential electricity prices refer to the regulated prices at which electricity can be sold to households for their electricity consumption. The cost of the electricity bill is calculated based on the amount of electricity used.
The price for each tier is determined by state regulations, and the total cost varies depending on the amount of electricity consumed per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
Here is the retail electricity price breakdown:
Tier | Usage Range (kWh) | Electricity Price (VND/kWh) |
---|---|---|
Tier 1 | 0 – 50 | 1678 |
Tier 2 | 51 – 100 | 1734 |
Tier 3 | 101 – 200 | 2014 |
Tier 4 | 201 – 300 | 2536 |
Tier 5 | 301 – 400 | 2834 |
Tier 6 | Above 400 | 2927 |
How to Calculate the Electricity Bill by kWh
The formula for calculating the tier level is as follows:
Where:
Mti: Household electricity bill tier (kWh).
Mqi: Regulated tier level i (kWh).
T: Number of days in the previous consecutive month (days).
N: Number of billing days (days).
After calculating the tier level, multiply it by the retail price and add 10% VAT to obtain the total amount to be paid.
Note: In cases where multiple households share the same electricity meter, the formula for calculating the tier level is as follows:
Where:
n: Number of shared households.
How to Calculate by Power Consumption
Power consumption refers to the rate at which electrical devices consume energy and is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Most household electrical appliances provide technical specifications, including power consumption, which allows for the calculation of energy usage. This information can be used to estimate the amount of electricity consumed and the corresponding electricity bill.
Where:
A: Amount of energy consumed in time t (kWh).
P: Power consumption (kW).
t: Usage time (hours).
Conversion: 1MW = 1000 kW = 1000000 W
Example: For a device with a power consumption of 100W = 0.1 kW, operating for 24 hours would consume 2.4 kWh.
The resulting energy consumption can then be used to calculate the electricity bill based on the specified tiers mentioned above.
