It is common knowledge that mung beans are easy to grow, but they are so easy that you can simply put some green beans in a bottle of water and harvest the sprouts after a few days. Not many people actually do this. A mother wanted her family to have clean vegetables, but because her house had no space to plant vegetables, she came up with the idea of using an empty bottle. She didn’t do it alone, but she persuaded her daughter to join her. On harvesting day, the little girl was overjoyed to see the bottle filled with the mung beans they had planted a few days before.
If you also want to have clean bean sprouts, try this super fast and neat way of growing mung beans.
Firstly, wash the beans and remove any husks. Then, mix 3 bowls of cold water with 2 bowls of boiling water and soak 100g of mung beans in the mixture. Let them soak for about 1 hour. During this time, prepare the used bottle (1.5l), wash it, and make 4 to 5 holes on the bottle cap and several small holes on the body of the bottle. After soaking, put all the mung beans into the bottle and close the cap.

You should keep the bottle with the mung beans in a dark place, with no light or using a black plastic bag to cover it completely. This is crucial because darkness prevents photosynthesis, allowing nutrients to concentrate in the bean sprouts, and the sprouts won’t turn green. So, do not place the bottle in a bright spot during the beans sprouting.

In addition, it’s better to place the bottle horizontally rather than vertically so that the mung beans will be evenly distributed. Every day, you water the mung beans twice by pouring water into a bowl and soaking the entire bottle in the bowl for a few minutes, then take it out and let the water drain completely before putting the bottle back to a dark place.
If you follow this routine every day, after only 3 days, you will be able to harvest a bottle full of white, plump, and safe bean sprouts, without any chemicals. With 100g of mung beans initially, after 3 days, you will harvest about 500-600g of bean sprouts. When harvesting, you just need to poke a hole in the bottle body and take out the bean sprouts.
