7 Signs it’s Time to Upgrade Your iPhone

Unable to download the latest iOS software

Expert Jones noted that initially, not having the latest iOS software may not seem like a big concern, however, updating your phone has other benefits besides adding new features. Jones says, “You risk being infected with viruses and other security threats if you do not have the latest Apple software. If your phone does not allow you to download the latest software, that could be a major issue”.

No accessories available

According to expert Jones: “You need a screen protector but can’t find one for your specific iPhone model. You need a new phone case but only have one or two options available in stores. You planned on purchasing a phone holder for the car but your iPhone doesn’t fit because it is designed for a different-sized iPhone”.

All these examples can demonstrate that your phone has outlasted the accessories that can support it.

Reduced battery life

Mr. Jones stated: “Each time you add charge to your smartphone after it has depleted, its maximum capacity will decrease slightly upon charging. A charging cycle is completed each time you plug in your phone while the phone battery is at least 70% because the battery can only endure a certain number of charging cycles”.

Your phone might have reached its end limit when it needs to maintain a strong battery charge, in which case, it would be better for you to replace your device.

Slow touch-screen responsiveness

Tech experts advise that it’s time to upgrade to a new smartphone if you notice that your taps and swipes are responding slowly.

Storage is full

An iPhone’s memory cannot be expanded, unlike Android smartphones. Expert Jones advises: “If you have an iPhone 6 or an older standard model, you could have as little as 16GB of storage capacity, which can quickly be used up if you download many apps. You can try methods such as deleting unused files and folders, removing outdated software, or moving your photo and video library to the Cloud”.

Audio issue

Even with a strong signal, if you’re struggling to hear during calls, the issue may not be your connection but the iPhone’s microphone. Your voice can easily become very faint during calls if your microphone is not working properly. It may even cause continuous audio interruptions.

Phone malfunctions

Expert Jones says the clearest sign that you should replace your iPhone is this: you may endure a broken casing, a water-damaged component, or a cracked screen for a while, but you don’t know how long it’ll last. Jones says, “Additionally, all the data on your iPhone can be lost if it malfunctions completely. In case your phone breaks down in any way, you must back up your data”.

If you’re experiencing one or more of these signs, consider replacing your iPhone and trading it in for a newer model.
