Apply conditioner to the entire length of your hair
The reality is that the roots of your hair are newer and healthier, while the ends are often dry, brittle, and prone to split ends. After cleansing your scalp, gently towel-dry your hair and flip it upside down. Apply conditioner to the ends of your hair, starting from the ears and working down to the shoulders.
Not allowing primer to dry
When applying makeup, you may have experienced applying a primer and then immediately applying foundation or powder without giving the primer time to set. This can lead to an uneven, patchy base. After applying primer, allow at least 60 seconds for it to dry completely. If you’re in a hurry and can’t wait, gently blot your face with a soft tissue to remove any excess moisture before proceeding with your foundation or powder.
Using concealer to hide puffy eyes
Concealer won’t help in this case. Instead, wrap an ice cube in a soft cloth and gently apply it to the area for about 15 minutes. However, if the puffiness persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, consult a doctor.
Taking long showers or baths
Prolonged exposure to water can be detrimental to both your skin and hair. Limit your shower or bath time to no more than 10 minutes, and ideally, keep the total time for showering, bathing, and face washing to under 20 minutes.
Over-treating acne
Applying excessive amounts of acne treatment products won’t speed up the healing process. These products typically need several hours to be fully absorbed into the skin. Over-applying them can clog pores and create an environment where acne thrives. Read the instructions on your acne treatment products carefully, and aim to use them twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.
Applying perfume after getting dressed
Spraying perfume directly onto your clothes can cause staining, especially on light-colored fabrics. The combination of perfume and fabric can also create an unpleasant new scent. Instead, apply perfume before getting dressed, and focus on pulse points: wrists, neck, behind the ears, and elbows. Avoid rubbing your wrists together after application, as this can alter the scent.
Standing too close to the mirror when shaping your eyebrows
When you stand too close to the mirror, you lose perspective and can’t see the overall shape of your eyebrows. This can lead to over-plucking and uneven brows. Step back from the mirror or use a larger mirror in a well-lit area to get a better view. If necessary, use a desk lamp to provide additional lighting.
