When it comes to crowns, people often think of metals, gemstones, diamonds. But this year’s Miss Slovenia pageant has created a wooden crown with a national message.
The newly crowned Miss Alida Tomanič received a wooden crown. The theme of this year’s pageant in Slovenia is entrepreneurship, locality. Therefore, in line with this criterion, BTC wants to introduce the world to the importance of wood in Slovenia through this crown. Wood is as precious as gold to the country of Slovenia. Therefore, the crown is made from 11 different types of wood, showcasing the richness and variety of wood in Slovenia. The color of the crown is also taken from the natural color of wood.
The wooden crown was created during a workshop at the Zasavje Health and Labor Center, a place that supports, helps, and cares for individuals with medical, mental, or psychological disabilities. The workshop was guided by consultant Juret Gačnik. Each member here participated in the work according to their own strength.
Miss Slovenia 2022 Vida Milivojša added, “We have been collaborating with the center for many years. When I won the title of Miss Slovenia, I also became an ambassador for the Širimo VIP Zasavje project. We try to help and attract people who need support with medical, mental, or psychological disabilities to integrate into society.”
These activities are meaningful, making the less fortunate feel a sense of community integration, strive more, and discover their potential.
Miss Slonevia 2023 Alida Tomanič is 19 years old this year. She will represent Slovenia in Miss World 2023, held in late November and early December in India. In the competition, BTC also awarded the first and second runner-up titles to Aleksandra Matan and Tijana Bektaševic, respectively.
