Post-Bath Application
Clean and moist skin helps the fragrance absorb and last longer. Gently pat your skin dry and spray perfume while your skin is still damp.
Spray on Pulse Points
Pulse points on the body, such as wrists, behind the ears, behind the knees, and the neck, are ideal places to spray perfume. These areas are usually warmer and will help diffuse the scent outwards.
After spraying, allow the perfume to dry naturally. Rubbing can break down the fragrance molecules, causing them to evaporate faster.
Moisturize Before Spraying
Applying moisturizer before spraying perfume can help the scent last longer. Opt for a lightly scented or unscented moisturizer so as not to overpower the perfume.
Shake Well Before Use
If your perfume is in liquid form, remember to shake it well before use. Hold the spray about 15-20cm away from your skin to ensure even distribution.
Use a Matching Body Lotion
Choose a body lotion with a similar scent to your perfume and shower gel. For instance, if you plan to wear rose-scented perfume for the day, your moisturizer should also have a rosy fragrance.
A tip for this step is to apply the lotion while your skin is still damp. This allows the scented product to absorb deeper into the skin and leave a more potent fragrance.
Fragrance Locking Tip
Similar to applying moisturizer over serum in your skincare routine, this helps retain the scent and prevents it from fading. Simply layer a small amount of scented lotion or oil over your perfume for a more enduring fragrance.
Additionally, as a final step, you can add a second layer of scent to areas with arteries or concentrated blood flow. Or, for a fun twist, spray a little on your hairbrush and comb through your hair or spritz a bit on your clothes. This will make your fragrance much more subtle and intriguing.
Spray on Hair or Accessories
A tip to enhance the longevity of your scent is to spray your perfume on your hair or scarf. Hair and fabric hold scent very well, but remember not to spray directly onto hair if your perfume contains alcohol, as it may dry out your hair.
