The humid weather is a factor that makes hair sticky and flat. You need to pay attention when taking care of your hair daily. Here are some methods that will achieve results and minimize the risk of oily and flat hair:
Avoid washing hair too often
Washing your hair too frequently will remove the natural oil layer, causing the sebaceous glands on the scalp to secrete more oil to supplement moisture, making the hair more prone to stickiness.
Shampoo correctly to limit greasy hair
Step 1: Take a small amount of shampoo, apply it evenly to the scalp and hair roots.
Step 2: Use your fingertips to gently massage the hair roots, massage the scalp gently. Do not scratch the scalp or hair vigorously with your nails.
Step 3: Rinse off the shampoo and then repeat the above steps. Note that you should not apply shampoo directly to the hair strands, only apply it to the hair roots and scalp.
Step 4: Rinse the hair/head with warm water. Squeeze the hair to remove excess water. Note that warm water should be used, not cold or hot water.
Step 5: Apply a moderate amount of conditioner evenly to the hair shaft. Use your fingers to gently run through the hair and gently comb the hair for about 3 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Note: Conditioner provides oil to make hair soft and smooth, but using too much conditioner will make the hair greasier. It is best to use a moderate amount of conditioner on the hair shaft, then rinse it off with water.
Avoid blow-drying hair
Using high temperatures and strong airflow to dry the hair, and direct heat on the hair roots will stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce more oil, making the hair more prone to stickiness.
Therefore, we should only use a hairdryer on cool setting, blow air or low heat to dry the hair. Leave the hair slightly damp, then let it dry naturally. Or you can use a soft, clean, and gentle cotton towel to dry your hair.
Avoid using styling products such as gel, wax, pomade, clay, hair spray… as these products, although help you style your hair easily and make it look better, will make your hair greasy faster.
For your pillow, choose a material that has good sweat absorption like silk, cotton… to minimize the accumulation of sweat on the hair, which causes it to become greasy and sticky quickly.
Step 2: Gently massage your scalp with your fingertips. Avoid scratching vigorously with your nails.
Step 3: Rinse and repeat the above steps, ensuring you only apply shampoo to the roots and scalp, not the strands.
Step 4: Rinse your hair and scalp with warm water and gently squeeze out excess water.
Step 5: Apply a moderate amount of conditioner to the hair shaft, run your fingers through, and gently comb for 3 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with warm water.
