Proper face washing process
No matter what skin type you have, the face washing process must be done correctly and adequately:
– When washing your face, you should wash your face with your hands, don’t use a towel. If you leave your hands dirty, bacteria on your hands can still spread to your face and cause inflammation. Therefore, before washing your face, the first step is to wash your hands with soap or a specialized hand wash.
– Makeup remover: Makeup remover will help remove dirt deep in the skin. If you wear makeup, makeup remover also helps remove powder, foundation, eyeliner, eyebrow pencil and lipstick. It is very difficult to completely remove makeup without using a makeup remover.
– Wet your face: Warm water is the best temperature. Warm water will remove dirt inside the pores more easily.
– Lather face wash: Take a sufficient amount of face wash into your palm and lather it, then apply it evenly on the skin.
Massage your face: Gently massage in a spiral motion from the inside out, from the bottom up for 1-2 minutes. Massaging helps to clean the skin and stimulates better blood and oxygen circulation, giving the face a rosy glow.
– Rinse your face again with cold water to remove all the face wash and impurities. Then use a soft, clean towel to pat dry.
Choosing a face wash for each skin type
– Normal skin:
This is a benign skin type, not oily, not dry, not acne-prone, young and easy to care for. Therefore, it is not too picky about skin care products. However, some criteria should be noted such as:
+ Should choose a face wash with a stable pH from 5.5 to 6.5.
+ Can choose a face wash that cleanses the skin and has some other functions such as: Whitening, detoxifying, preventing acne, tightening pores, anti-aging…
+ Prioritize products from reputable dermocosmetic brands.
– Dry skin:
This skin needs a lot of moisture, so a suitable face wash needs to be able to add moisture and water. Best of all, for this skin type, natural ingredients such as olive oil, aloe vera… should be prioritized. The product should have a creamy texture and not contain harsh detergents. Choose a face wash with a gentle formula that adds moisture to the skin. Soap-free, non-foaming, fragrance-free, alcohol-free face wash.
– Oily skin:
Choose a face wash that can clean excess oil on the skin. Face wash for oily skin should have a suitable pH, should contain clay to effectively absorb oil and help clean dirt. Choose a face wash with a moderate foam formula to remove oil at a stable level.
– Combination skin:
Face wash specifically for combination skin or combine a foam face wash for oily skin. In the morning, use a foaming face wash to control oil in the T-zone.
– Sensitive skin:
Choose a product with a gel formula with a gentle formula, less foaming, free of chemicals and synthetic fragrances. To be safer, you should test the product on a small area of skin before using it.
– Acne-prone skin:
Avoid face washes that contain alcohol, fragrances, soap, large massage beads, as they will rub against acne areas, causing damage and peeling. Prioritize gel face wash with a thin, smooth texture, capable of controlling excess oil and preventing acne formation on the skin, containing ingredients such as: Benzoyl peroxide, retinol, AHA, BHA.
Different skin types have different needs, so it’s important to choose a face wash that suits your specific skin type:
- Normal skin: Look for a face wash with a stable pH between 5.5 and 6.5. You can also opt for a product with additional benefits like whitening, detoxifying, acne prevention, pore tightening, or anti-aging. Prioritize products from reputable dermocosmetic brands.
- Dry skin: Choose a face wash that adds moisture and hydration to your skin. Natural ingredients like olive oil and aloe vera are ideal. Opt for a creamy, soap-free, non-foaming, fragrance-free, and alcohol-free formula that is gentle and non-irritating.
- Oily skin: Select a face wash that can effectively remove excess oil. Look for a product with a suitable pH and clay to absorb oil and clean dirt. A moderate foam formula will help stabilize oil levels.
- Combination skin: Use a face wash specifically designed for combination skin, or combine a foam face wash for oily skin with a gentle cleanser. In the morning, use a foaming face wash to control oil in the T-zone.
- Sensitive skin: Go for a gel formula with a gentle, less foaming formula. Avoid chemicals and synthetic fragrances. Always patch test the product on a small area of skin before using it.
- Acne-prone skin: Prioritize a gel face wash with a thin, smooth texture that can control excess oil and prevent acne. Look for ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, retinol, AHA, and BHA. Avoid alcohol, fragrances, soap, and large massage beads that can irritate acne-prone skin.
