Registering for temporary residency online helps save time for both the applicant and the responsible administrative agency. To be proactive, individuals can register for temporary residency online by following these steps:
Step 1: Visit the National Public Service Portal under the Ministry of Public Security.
Step 2: Log in to your account (or register for one if you don’t have one).
Step 3: Return to the homepage, select “Resident Registration and Management” from the Online Public Services menu, and then select “Temporary Residency Registration.”
Alternatively, you can select “Submit Online Application” > “Temporary Residency Registration” (enter “temporary residency” in the search field > Click Search to filter for procedures related to temporary residency registration).
Step 4: The website will redirect you to the “Temporary Residency Registration Application,” which includes fields that must be accurately completed, such as:
- Implementing agency: Enter the province/city, district/county, and ward/commune where you intend to reside temporarily.
- Administrative procedure: Under “Procedure” > Select “Temporary Residency Registration” > Choose Create a New Household or Join an Existing Household. Then, select the appropriate option for your situation > Enter your intended residency period.
- Information for temporary residency registration request: This section includes sub-sections:
- Place of Temporary Residency Registration: The information for the province, city, district/county, ward/commune, etc., will be automatically updated based on the information you entered earlier. Now, you only need to enter the address and personal information of the household head and the information of the legal representative (the person submitting the online temporary residency registration application). You must enter accurate personal information.
- Lastly, the “Information” section specifies how you will receive notifications about the status of your application and receive the results.
Note: Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory; you cannot leave them blank and must provide accurate information.

To verify your temporary residency online, follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the National Public Service Portal website and log in to your account.
Step 2: There are two ways to check the status of your application:
Method 1: Select “Application Lookup” > Enter the application code, verification code > Click “Lookup“. The application code will be provided through the notification method you registered in step 4 above.
Method 2: Select the Last Name – First Name frame in the upper right-hand corner > Select “Manage Submitted Applications“. In this application management interface, enter information such as: Application number, ID/CCCD number, applicant’s name, submission area > Click “Search“. If you have only a few applications, you only need to enter your ID/CCCD number, last name & first name > Click “Search” to display the list of applications.
Step 3: The system will return information, status, and progress of your application.

Online Temporary Residency Registration for Foreigners
The place of residence is the temporary residence of a foreigner, including: hotels; housing for foreigners studying, working, or doing internships; clinics and hospitals; private homes. Within 12 hours of a foreigner taking up residence, the owner of that establishment must complete the temporary residency registration (24 hours for remote areas).
Currently, there are two ways to declare temporary residency for foreigners:
Method 1: Make a direct declaration (using form NA17) at the local police station/commune police station/town police station/station, known as the Grassroots Police where the temporary stay is located.
Method 2: Make a declaration on the website of the Immigration Management Office of the province where the accommodation is located.
Step 1: Visit the temporary residency registration portal using the syntax: https://tentinh.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/
- Visit the National Public Service Portal under the Ministry of Public Security.
- Log in to your account or create one if you don’t have one already.
- From the homepage, select “Resident Registration and Management” and then “Temporary Residency Registration.”
- Accurately complete the “Temporary Residency Registration Application,” including details such as the implementing agency, administrative procedure, and information for the temporary residency registration request.
- Review the information entered and ensure its accuracy.
- Tick the box accepting legal responsibility and select “Record” or “Record and Submit Application.”
- Log in to your account on the National Public Service Portal website.
- Select “Application Lookup” and enter the application code and verification code, or choose to manage submitted applications by selecting your name in the upper right corner.
- The system will provide information, status updates, and progress on your application.
Note: Regularly check your temporary residency status online to stay informed and obtain your certificate promptly.
