In an interview with VietNamNet, Vu Ngoc Son, the tour guide and owner of the viral video, shared that the location in question is Hang Trau (in Dam Khe, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province). It is located within the UNESCO-recognized World Natural Heritage site of Tam Coc – Bich Dong, about 100km from Hanoi.
This spot has also attracted many foreign tourists who wish to experience the unique Vietnamese rural coffee shop model and engage in nature-immersive activities.
Tourists wade through the flooded area with excitement, exploring and experiencing Hang Trau despite the post-storm water levels.
Son explained that the video was taken in mid-September, right after Typhoon Yagi passed through Northern Vietnam, causing heavy rains and subsequent flooding. The coffee shop area next to the large pond was also affected, providing an unusual experience for Western tourists who got to enjoy their drinks with ducks swimming around their feet.
Hang Trau is one of the captivating tourist destinations in Ninh Binh.
According to VietNamNet’s investigation, the area surrounding Hang Trau boasts a diverse landscape of mountains, rivers, rice fields, waterfalls, and a namesake cave. Visitors can partake in numerous activities that embody the essence of Northern Vietnam’s countryside, such as water buffalo riding, rice planting, fish trapping with a basket, and feeding ducks.
Given the abundance of water-based activities available at Hang Trau, the ideal time to visit is from March to October, when the weather is cool and pleasant.
Additionally, those visiting Hang Trau in May or June will have the opportunity to witness the stunning golden season in Tam Coc, an annual occurrence that paints the landscape in a sea of yellow.
