A Thai Binh grandfather’s recent photos of his ‘training’ class and the announcement of rules for his grandchildren to follow during their summer vacation at their grandparents’ house went viral on social media, receiving a lot of attention and enthusiastic interactions from parents.

Pham Bui Ngoc Anh (21 years old), the owner of the viral photo series, shared that she was surprised by the attention her family’s summer vacation photos received. The grandfather in the photos is Mr. Bui Gia Khinh (67 years old, from Thai Binh). He has four children and seven grandchildren.
Every summer vacation, the grandchildren would stay with their grandparents for about a week to a month. According to Ngoc Anh, this is not the first year that Mr. Khinh has set rules for his grandchildren. However, as the children are older now and tend to spend more time on their phones and playing games, he decided to create a more detailed set of rules.
The reason why the grandfather’s rules attracted a lot of attention from the online community is that they were impressive and carefully handwritten by him. He even hung the rules at the front door for his grandchildren to follow.
Specifically, the rules included a clear schedule for when the grandchildren were allowed to use their phones. In addition, he also requested that the ‘summer vacation group’ participate in household chores and maintain unity among siblings, with a particular emphasis on minimizing talking during meals and ensuring everyone ate enough according to the set standards.
If the grandchildren did not follow the rules, they would be reminded or sent back to their parents. The rules were not just one-sided, as the grandfather also had the grandchildren sign a commitment to participate in the ‘summer training class.’
The online community was curious about the reaction of the ‘summer vacation group’ and their parents to the strict rules. Ngoc Anh shared that the parents fully supported and agreed with the grandfather’s method, and the children, although a little disappointed at first, obediently followed their grandfather’s rules.
Ngoc Anh added that the grandchildren would follow the rules daily, with a ‘class leader’ elected each day to record the activities of the group. At the end of the summer vacation, the grandchild with the least number of rule violations would receive a reward from their grandparents.
Many parents in the online community agreed with the Thai Binh grandfather’s method of educating the ‘summer vacation group.’ Since the photos of the ‘training class’ and the rules were shared on social media, they have continued to receive a lot of attention and positive comments. People believe that with this careful education from their grandparents, the grandchildren will grow up to be good people. More importantly, this summer vacation will be a memorable and happy experience for the grandchildren, something not every child is fortunate enough to have.
