Restore Non-Stick Coating Effectively with Milk and Potato
One of the simplest and most cost-effective ways to refresh the non-stick coating on your pan is to use milk. Milk contains casein protein, which, when heated, forms a protective film on the pan’s surface, quickly restoring its non-stick properties.
Here’s how to do it:
Pour enough milk to cover the bottom of the pan (you can use sweetened or unsweetened milk, whichever you prefer).
Heat the milk over medium heat until it boils, for about 5 minutes. Be careful not to use high heat, as it may cause the milk to overflow.
Turn off the heat, pour out the milk, and rinse the pan to remove any milk residue.
You can test the effectiveness by frying an egg. If the egg flips easily and doesn’t stick to the pan, the non-stick coating has been successfully restored.

Additionally, you can also use potato and salt to clean and restore the non-stick coating:
Peel, wash, and cut a potato in half.
Sprinkle salt on the cut side and use the halved potato to gently scrub the pan’s surface to clean it.
Use the other half of the potato to rub the bottom of the pan or any areas where the non-stick coating has peeled off.
Rinse and dry the pan thoroughly.
Potatoes contain mild acids that effectively remove rust. At the same time, nutrients such as riboflavin and folate combine with Teflon to naturally restore the non-stick coating and extend the lifespan of your pan.
Method for restoring the non-stick coating using potato and salt:
Preparation:
1 potato
A small amount of salt
Instructions:
Peel and wash the potato, then let it air dry. Cut the potato in half and sprinkle salt on the cut side of one half. Gently rub this half onto the pan’s surface to clean it. Use the other half to rub on the pan’s bottom or any areas with peeled-off non-stick coating.

Once finished, rinse the pan with clean water and dry it. For well-used pans, the non-stick coating may wear off, causing food to stick and rust to form. The mild acids in potatoes effectively remove rust, while nutrients like riboflavin and folate combine with Teflon to naturally restore the non-stick coating.
