– Have a 12-digit citizen ID card (with or without an electronic chip) within the prescribed period;

– Citizens who already have an account on the National Public Service Portal;

– Have active bank accounts, bank cards, or payment apps to pay the passport fee.

What to prepare when applying for a passport online?

Although it is online, you still need to prepare some necessary documents as follows when applying for a passport online:

• Portrait photo, ID photo with a clear face, clear ears and forehead. Photo format is .jpeg and photo size is < 4MB.
• Passport issued last time for those who have been granted a passport; In case of loss or misplacement, you must have an application for a lost passport or a notice of receipt of the application for a lost passport from the competent authority – as prescribed in Article 28 of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens;
• Copy of ID card/CCCD in case there is any change from the information in the passport issued last time.
• Copy of birth certificate/birth certificate for children under 14 years old.
• Note that image files must be in .jpeg format. Each uploaded file is less than 6MB.

Steps to apply for a passport online at home on phone and computer

Step 1: Access the Online Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security HERE > Select the 3 horizontal bars icon > Log in. If you do not have an account, select Register.

Step 2: After having an account, log in.

Step 3: Next, enter the OTP code sent to your phone > Click Confirm. The system will display your personal profile information, meaning that you have logged in successfully.

Step 4: Click on the 3 horizontal bars icon > Select Submit online application > Search for the keyword “Passport”.

Step 5: Select Apply for passport online > Select Submit application.

Step 6: Fill out the online application as required. Fields with (*) are required fields, otherwise they can be skipped.

Step 7: Then select the Contents of the Passport Issuance Request.

Step 8: Select the Place of receiving the registration application and the place where the citizen will receive the passport when it is completed.

Step 9: Fill in the available application forms as required and upload them to the system for approval. Then click Agree and Continue.

Step 10: Pay the fee and wait for the feedback.
