According to DSPL, every spring and summer passing through National Highway 20, Loc Nga, Bao Loc, Lam Dong, many people are amazed by a house that looks like it came out of a fairy tale. The entire house, including the roof, is covered with a colorful display of fireworks flowers. In front of the house, the flowers cascade down, partially covering the entrance.

Mr. Huu Thang and Mrs. Lan are the owners of this unique house. Mr. Thang happily reveals that, for many years, their house has gained fame thanks to these special flowers. Being located on a busy road with many passing cars and buses, the house stands out from a distance and has become a popular stop for many transport companies.

A house covered in beautiful flowers like in fairy tales

“These flowers are called fireworks flowers or winter jasmine. My wife has been planting these flowers for 15 years. In this area, many people plant these flowers, but they usually use them to decorate fences. I prefer to plant them to surround my house, making it more vibrant and prominent,” Mr. Thang shared.

The flower-covered part of the house is a grocery store owned by Mr. Thang and Mrs. Lan. Their house is located right behind the store. It may seem like there are many giant flowers, but there are actually only two trees. One of them is extremely large, with a big trunk and twisted branches, intertwining like ropes.

“Every year, these flowers bloom twice, in spring and summer, starting from Tet holiday. The flowers are very vibrant. While fireworks flowers are not rare, it is not common to have them planted for 15 years and covering the entire house.

That’s why some people have asked to buy them, but I always refuse because these trees hold many memories and have been with my family for a long time,” Mr. Thang revealed.

Fireworks flowers are typically climbing plants, but after years of planting, the roots and stems of these trees have become large and turned into wooden trunks. It is particularly impressive that, despite their age, the trees still thrive and even bloom near the base.

The flowers fill every corner of the grocery store

Mrs. Lan added that she has had a passion for plants and enjoys decorating her house and garden with various types of flowers. Her connection with these two fireworks flower trees also happened by chance.

“Back then, our neighbors were moving and they planned to get rid of these trees. When I saw that the trees were still blooming, about to be cut down, I felt sorry for them and asked if I could bring them home to plant. The trees were quite small at that time.

When I brought them home and planted them, I don’t know why, but they grew beautifully, even though I only watered them regularly during hot weather and neglected them during rainy seasons. The trees used to grow outward and climb onto the road, but later, to ensure the safety of the pass in Bao Loc, we had to trim them a bit.

For many years now, many people passing by have been curious and have stopped by to take photos and videos of these trees. I don’t mind, and I’m happy about it. However, some people have tried to pull the flowers or even climb up the tree trunk to sit on it. I have to stop them because I feel sorry for the trees and I’m afraid they will be damaged,” Mrs. Lan shared.

Many passersby stop to take photos with the special flower display as a souvenir

Mrs. Lan also added that many people imagine that a house covered in flowers like this would attract ants, insects, or even snakes. However, over the past 15 years, she has only seen bees come to collect nectar, and no other insects or animals.
