In the old days, when life was still poor, our ancestors were very meticulous in worshiping, but they often focused on fixing their hearts when worshiping and arranging the offerings carefully. Now that the economy is much better, new and unique forms of worship items have emerged. Many types of fruits, such as pomelo, watermelon, coconut… are brought out in eye-catching shapes, for example, pomelo is molded into the shape of a gourd, a gold brick, engraved with the words “Fortune – Prosperity – Longevity” and even gold-plated…

This creativity looks quite eye-catching, creating a new and fresh feeling. Many people believe that worshiping these types of fruits will bring more luck and attract more wealth at the beginning of the year.

In the Vietnamese worship culture, the worship items must have good meanings, bring luck, and have a clean and solemn nature when offering them to our ancestors, which shows the sincere respect of the descendants.

What is the difference in the meaning of worshiping between these strange-shaped fruits with gold-plated engravings and regular fruits?

The only difference is that they differ in appearance, so many people find them beautiful, unique, and interesting. Many people view them as a luxurious and enjoyable investment for Tet to admire their singularity.

As for the meaning of worshiping, buying these unique-shaped fruits is believed to attract more luck, but there is no basis to say so. Perhaps it creates a sense of joy, relaxation, and satisfaction for homeowners when buying such unique fruits.

These strange fruits often have the risk of using various pesticides, growth stimulants, and fruit drop prevention drugs to keep the fruits fresh as long as possible.

Therefore, these type of ornamental plants for Tet worshiping can not last long, and strange and unique fruits may not be safe for consumption. Not to mention, the quality of the fruits may not be good, for example, even though the pomelo looks beautiful on the outside, it may be dry and bitter when eaten.

Therefore, these types of fruits should only be used for decorative purposes to look beautiful and should not be eaten. Trying to consume these fruits used for decorative purposes may have a higher risk of food poisoning compared to regular fruits. Some types may even be treated with chemicals on the outside, so children who touch them and put their hands in their mouths may not be safe, and adults should also wash their hands after contact.

From a spiritual and feng shui perspective, if the worship items are not guaranteed to be safe from chemical contamination, many people will not use them because they believe that they are not solemn and worshiping like that is more about form than substance.

Therefore, whether each family should choose to use such types of fruits for offering depends on their financial situation, preferences, and beliefs. However, when eating these fruits after offering them, it is advisable to be careful and avoid food poisoning.

Pomelos and kumquats on the market for decoration during Tet, which are supposed to stay fresh for a long time, should not be used because they are often treated with chemicals to keep them fresh for a long time on the tree. Therefore, you should discard that batch of fruits and replant the tree and wait for a new batch of fruits before using them.
