The electronic household registration book is a method of managing residents’ residence information online through a software system, and all residence information will be updated in the National Population Database and the Residence Database.

How to look up an electronic household registration book through the Vietnam Social Security website

To be able to easily and conveniently look up an electronic household registration book, you just need to follow the steps below:

Step 1: Access the website of the Vietnam Social Security Agency here and scroll down to select the section Online Lookup.

Step 2: After the online lookup window appears, click on Lookup Social Insurance Number in the top right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Enter all the required information as requested. After entering the information, click on the confirmation checkbox I am not a robot and click Lookup.

Step 4: After the system successfully performs the lookup, it will return the result including: Social Insurance Number, Full Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Household Code, Residence Address, and Status. In which, Household Code is the electronic household registration book number that you are looking up.

Some notes when looking up an electronic household registration book

When performing the lookup of an electronic household registration book on the website of the Vietnam Social Security Agency, you need to note a few things:

The lookup method is currently only using the Social Insurance lookup function and the household number is accompanying information, so you can only perform the lookup if you have participated in Social Insurance.
You must fill in all the required information to avoid system errors. In addition, the phone number you enter for lookup must match the registered Social Insurance number.

Prepare complete documents and files

Family household registration book.
Household change form, personal information according to HK02 form which can be obtained at the Police Agency.
Presentation of personal ID/CCCD card.

In case you want to issue a new household registration book in the town, city under the province or district, town, city under the direct control of the Central Government, you are required to have a confirmation letter from the Commune Police, Ward, Precinct where you reside in the household change form, personal information.

Submit documents and files to the Police Agency

To submit documents to adjust the information in the household registration book, you just need to bring the files to submit at the Police office in the districts, towns, cities.

For cities under the direct control of the Central Government: Submit documents to the Police of the district/town/city.
For other provinces: Submit documents to the Police of the commune, ward, precinct in the district, Police of the commune, town, city under the province.

The officer receiving the documents will check and process according to the regulations on residence:

In case the files are complete and valid: The officer will write a receipt for the person submitting the documents.
In case the files meet the conditions but are incomplete or the forms are incorrect, not complete: The officer will guide the person submitting the documents to complete them.
In case the files do not meet the conditions: The officer will not accept them and reply in writing, stating the reasons why they are not accepted.

Reception and processing time: Monday to Friday (excluding holidays).

Return the result of adjusting information in the household registration book

Within 3 days from the date of receiving the request for processing, the registration agency will collect the household registration book according to the regulations and adjust the information according to the requester’s requirements.
