The ship is stranded about 500 meters from the shore. As the tide recedes, the “giant” ship, rusted and aged, sits alone on the deserted beach, creating a unique landscape that evokes scenes from American and Korean movies. Photo: Luong Phong
A few days ago, Ngoc Bich (born 1995, Da Lat) traveled to Ninh Thuan and visited the ship. “I came here in the afternoon, and the sunlight reflecting on the water created a dazzling and unique contrast. The water level was low enough to reveal the green moss-covered rocks. As the sunset, the scenery became even more impressive, evoking a sense of nostalgia and artistry,” shared Bich. According to Bich, visitors can easily find the location of the “stranded ship” or “ghost ship” on Google Maps. If you’re unsure how to get to the beach, feel free to ask the locals for directions. “This is an impromptu photoshoot spot. For safety reasons, I recommend maintaining a safe distance from the ship. Wear sandals to protect your feet from sharp objects in the mossy area, and be cautious when walking as the surface can be slippery. Avoid venturing into the water when the tide is high,” advised Bich. Photo: Ngoc Bich
Luong Phong, a 35-year-old photographer from Ninh Thuan, suggests that the ideal time to visit Ninh Thuan and capture the stranded ship is between February and March. During this period, the weather is dry and sunny. Visitors can enjoy the beach and admire the seaweed and moss in the morning, and witness breathtaking sunsets in the afternoon. “It’s a rare opportunity to get up close to such massive ships. Typically, ships of this size are only seen far out at sea,” said Phong. He also recommended that visitors from Phan Rang Thap Cham city explore the Tu Thien mossy beach, the stranded ship, the Tanoli tourist area, and the Son Hai sand dunes. Photo: Luong Phong
The ship, named Thanh Hung 06, is owned by a real estate company. During its voyage from Nhon Trach port in Dong Nai to Cam Ranh port in Khanh Hoa, it encountered difficulties and drifted ashore, becoming stranded at Bai Thong beach. The ship sustained damage, including a punctured bottom, a broken rudder, rust, and recent cracks in its body. Photo: Luong Phong
After the ship ran aground, it became a popular attraction for visitors. To ensure the safety of tourists and locals, the local authorities have posted warning signs prohibiting people from approaching the ship. Photo: Em be Tay Nguyen
