The Nguyen Hue Flower Street for the Lunar New Year 2025 features a stunning design with three distinct segments: Unity, Transformation, and Development. These segments symbolize the historic journey of Vietnam, a nation that has overcome countless challenges, sacrifices, and losses, always united in its quest for independence and sustainable development.
The area around the statue of President Ho Chi Minh sets a solemn, meaningful, and warm tone, conveying a festive message for the new year and marking the significant events of 2025.
The main gate of the flower street showcases a breathtaking theme, “The Dance of Unity.” It echoes a triumphant melody, grand and majestic, as we march towards a new era for our beloved Vietnam. The theme, “The Land of Brocade and Blossoms, Welcoming a Harmonious Spring,” captures the essence of this spectacular display.
The design team has creatively crafted the year’s zodiac animal, resulting in the artistic duo of Golden Snake and Silver Snake. These impressive sculptures, located at the entrance of the flower street, mark a remarkable comeback in terms of appearance, size, and craftsmanship compared to the previous duo in 2013.
The Silver Snake stretches to a length of 25 meters, while the Golden Snake reaches an impressive 42 meters. Their bodies gracefully intertwine, forming a base wider than 11 meters. Rising from the flower bed below, their heads tower over 6 meters high. Approximately 70% of the materials used in their construction are environmentally friendly. The heads and bellies are coated with compressed cardboard painted in vibrant colors, while the backs are adorned with mica mirror scales that reflect a dazzling display of “gold” and “silver.”
The Silver Snake boasts approximately 2,700 mirror scales, while the Golden Snake boasts nearly 3,600. Each scale is meticulously hand-attached, complemented by LED lights running along their bellies. Their eyes, with a diameter of 10 centimeters, are a striking feature, capturing the essence of sharpness and soulfulness.
The bamboo groves behind the Silver and Golden Snakes are also environmentally conscious creations. Standing tall from 2.5 to 12 meters high, these structures are crafted with steel boxes bent into circular shapes and covered with rattan and bamboo, alternately painted in fresh green and ivory hues. Their hollow forms are illuminated gently, creating a mesmerizing display when the flower street lights up at night.
Among the designed mascots is a female Snake, embodying the essence of Southern Vietnam. Adorned in traditional attire, complete with a rattan hat, her form is inspired by the king cobra, with its head held high. Painted in shades of green, she stretches to a length of over 50 meters and stands over 10 meters tall. Two-thirds of her length rests on the ground, supported by a coiled body, while one-third soars vertically. Her hood, measuring over 3 meters, is crafted with a lightweight steel frame covered in fine mesh, allowing the wind to pass through effortlessly.
“Drops of Spring from the Earth” is a unique landscape that resembles both a beehive and a cave. Inspired by stalactite caves, the structure utilizes thousands of loosely woven bamboo mats for its ceiling and columns, reaching a height of 8 meters and spanning almost 1,000 square meters.
This year’s flower street features approximately 90 snake mascots, showcasing a diverse range of expressions and forms. Most of these mascots are concentrated near the main gate, where the Golden and Silver Snakes reside. This area also introduces playful baby Snakes with adorable features and movable heads, as seen in the charming scenes of “Snake Festival” and “Snake Companion.”
In constructing this Lunar New Year masterpiece, the organizers and technical teams have introduced innovative approaches. The traditional rice fields have been transformed, now featuring terraced rice fields and corn-covered sheds. The golden roofs are adorned with dried corncobs, and the pillars are embellished with ethnic patterns, adding a vibrant touch that celebrates the beauty of Vietnam’s rural landscapes.
“Spring Dance” captures the essence of a forest with a steel, foam, and bamboo treetop canopy, painted in alternating shades of dark and light green. Adorned with light spheres of various sizes, this installation creates a mystical ambiance, especially at night when the city illuminates.
The flower street also celebrates significant milestones of 2025, including the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification. The vibrant display of flowers and green spaces is subtly accented with festive decorations.
A metro train installation marks the first year of metro operation in the city, symbolizing another step forward in our journey towards a new era.
The middle scene introduces Robot Bong, a powerful and graceful figure adorned with immortal flowers. Its face is a LED screen, displaying a cheerful expression and a warm smile as it wishes everyone a happy new year. Visitors can meet Robot Bong in the fourth segment of this year’s flower street.
