For the sixth consecutive year, Cuc Phuong National Park was honored at the 2024 World Travel Awards as Asia’s Leading National Park. Spanning 22,408 hectares across three provinces: Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa, it is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity, stunning landscapes, and over 2,000 plant species and 300 bird species.

Every year, from late April to early May, the forest is transformed into a magical space as swarms of white butterflies fill the air, creating a fairy tale-like atmosphere. It’s a breathtaking experience to walk amongst the trees, with sunlight filtering through the leaves and white wings fluttering all around as if in a graceful dance.

Additionally, butterflies are most active during the day, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. So, if you want to capture the stunning sight of butterflies filling the sky, make sure to visit during these times.

However, it’s important to note that large crowds, loud noises, bright lights, and human movement can disturb the butterflies, causing them to seek quieter and shadier areas. As a result, many visitors may not get to witness the breathtaking scenes of butterflies everywhere as seen in online images.

In addition to its butterfly season, Cuc Phuong National Park offers a wide range of accommodations for overnight stays, located near the park entrance, Ho Mac Lake, and the park’s center. Beyond the white butterflies, the park also attracts visitors with its popular night tours to witness the enchanting fireflies.

When venturing into the forest, it’s recommended to wear lightweight clothing, flat shoes, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts to protect against insects and leeches. Also, carry insect repellent and basic first aid supplies. If joining a night tour, don’t forget to bring a flashlight and a whistle. Additionally, keep the rescue team’s contact number handy in case of emergencies.
