A Mother’s Sacrifice for Her Children’s Wellbeing
The story of co Lien’s family is one of resilience and love. Co Lien’s mother, the second wife of her father, had five children: co Lien and her four siblings, Co Dien, Thien, Quyen, and Mien. They lived together in Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City, during the 1970s.
Life was challenging for the family, especially when Co Dien, the eldest son, had to leave home for work, only visiting occasionally. The four sisters and their mother struggled to make ends meet, often lacking sufficient food and clothing.

In 1973, a turning point arrived when Co Lien’s mother sent her to stay with Co Huong, her half-sister from her father’s first marriage. This marked the beginning of Co Lien’s separation from her mother, and she never returned home. Subsequently, her mother also sent away Co Quyen and Co Mien.
Due to their impoverished circumstances, the mother believed that giving her children to other families to care for them would ensure they had enough food and clothing. Co Dien’s absence from home meant he was unaware of these developments.
Later, Co Lien’s mother remarried and moved to her new husband’s hometown, where she passed away in 1977. With her passing, the trail to finding his younger sisters became even more challenging for Co Dien, as he had no information about them.
A Longing to Reunite with Biological Family
Co Lien’s journey after leaving her mother’s home took her to various places. She stayed with Co Huong and took care of her younger sister, Co Tuyet. After a few years, Co Huong brought them to Tay Ninh, her mother’s hometown. However, their stay there was temporary, as Co Huong soon took them to Can Tho and placed them in the care of another family.
Co Lien remained in Can Tho with Co Tuyet for over a year until Co Tuyet’s mother came to take her back to Tay Ninh. Co Lien was invited to join them, but she declined out of fear that she would be given away again. Instead, she stayed with her foster parents.
Co Lien always hoped to find her biological family
Life with her foster family was not easy, and Co Lien often thought about leaving to find her birth family. However, she couldn’t recall where her hometown was. Her memories of that time were limited to the names of her siblings and childhood recollections.
As she grew older, married, and started her own family, Co Lien began her quest to find her long-lost relatives. Despite her efforts, her searches yielded no results. With age, her desire to reconnect with her family and discover her roots intensified.
A Dream Reunion
Co Lien’s story took a fortunate turn when she shared her plight on Tuan Vy’s channel. After verifying the information, Co Lien, along with her family, traveled to Ho Chi Minh City to reunite with her long-lost brother and other relatives.
The moment they met was filled with overwhelming emotions as they embraced each other and wept. Co Dien expressed his longing for his sister, saying, “I have wanted to find you for many years but had no way of doing so.”
Co Lien wept as she embraced her loved ones
Co Lien, overcome with emotion, could only cry as she held her beloved family members—people she thought she might never see again. Co Dien took his sister to their ancestors’ altar, and finally, Co Lien had found her way back to her family.
The long-awaited reunion brought joy and relief
The family shared stories, reminisced about the past, and caught up on each other’s lives. While they celebrated Co Lien’s return, they also wondered about Co Quyen’s whereabouts. The family vowed to continue their search for Co Quyen to complete their joy.
