The year 2025 marks the first time the local community has organized a flower festival, themed “Festival of Colors.” The event will take place at the Cho Lach Cultural Tourism Village, celebrating the renowned flower village of the Mekong Delta and showcasing the region’s cultural beauty.

Cho Lach Flower Village is one of the two largest flower villages in the Mekong Delta, alongside Sa Dec. From mid-October, along National Highway 57 through Long Thoi and Vinh Thanh communes in Cho Lach district, farmers begin the flower and ornamental plant season for the Lunar New Year festival. Mr. Tran Huu Nghi, Vice Director of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the district has 13,000 households growing flowers and fruit trees, with more than 600 hectares of land and 15-17 million flower and ornamental plant products for the Lunar New Year festival each year, including about 8 million flowering plants.

The festival is expected to feature 100 stalls showcasing flowers, ornamental plants, pets, garden tourism, traditional crafts, and culinary delights. In addition to sightseeing, visitors can experience pot-making, grafting, bonsai art exploration, and learning about the chemical-free flower and ornamental plant production process.

The festival will also include a cockfighting event, “Hoang Ke Cho Lach,” with the participation of hundreds of trainers and owners, along with over 150 fighting cocks from across the country. The organizers hope that this traditional cockfighting event will contribute to preserving this cultural art.

“The festival is a first step towards rural tourism,” said Mr. Duc, adding that Cho Lach district has organized over 15 tourism training courses for farmers, combining flower and ornamental plant business knowledge with skills such as friendly communication with tourists and garden landscaping.

Through promotional activities, the locality aims to develop tourism and establish Cho Lach as the leading flower and ornamental plant center in Vietnam.
