Nguyen Thanh Nhan, a 31-year-old from Quang Ngai, who has been to this pass twice, stated that Violak Pass has a steep gradient with hairpin bends and deep ravines.

However, according to Nhan, despite the challenging and hazardous terrain, Violak Pass remains a popular destination for adventurous travelers eager to conquer and explore its stunning landscapes and cloud-hunting opportunities.

“My friends and I traveled about 90 kilometers from Duc Pho to Violak Pass early in the morning. We left at 4 a.m. and arrived after two hours. The clouds were already at eye level, creating a breathtaking scene,” Nhan recalled.

According to Nhan’s experience, the cloud sea at Violak Pass usually appears early in the morning or late in the afternoon. If you visit in the morning, it can be quite cold and foggy, so travelers need to remain alert while ascending the pass.

However, returning from the pass after dark in the evening can be more dangerous.

“The road from the foot to the peak has several dark spots, rough terrain, and hazardous bends. Visitors must exercise caution and pay attention to their surroundings to avoid accidents,” he added.

The cloud sea at Violak Pass can be seen year-round, but the best time to hunt clouds is during autumn and winter (from October to February of the following year).

During this period, the weather conditions are favorable, and the cloud density is higher, creating a more stunning visual spectacle.

To ensure safety and a pleasant experience, travelers should carefully check the weather forecast before their trip. Typically, if the night before is clear and starry, the next day will likely have clouds and sunshine.

It is advisable to avoid traveling to the pass on rainy, gloomy days or during bitter cold spells, as the road can be slippery, and heavy fog can obstruct visibility.

Additionally, when visiting Violak Pass, travelers should bring warm coats, sports shoes, and rain gear to prepare for all possible weather conditions.

It is crucial to remain vigilant and ensure your safety by avoiding dangerous areas like standing too close to the edge of cliffs or ravines.

Especially, do not taste strange fruits growing wild in the area, and bring your food and water.

Nhan suggested that, in addition to Violak Pass, travelers could visit other famous tourist attractions in Quang Ngai, such as Ly Son Island, Minh Duc Pagoda, Swallow Cave, Tuyet Tinh Coc, or combine their trip with a visit to Mang Den town (in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province), about 50 kilometers away.

This destination is likened to a “paradise” for those seeking peace and tranquility, offering a chance to immerse themselves in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
