A closer look at Phia Oac peak. Video by Han Nguyen.

Phia Oac peak is located in Thanh Cong commune, Nguyen Binh district, and is the second-highest mountain in Cao Bang, reaching 1,931 meters above sea level.

Phia Oac’s landscape stands out with its dwarf forests, moss-covered trees, and a mix of earthen and rocky mountains.

At the peak of Phia Oac stands a VOV transmission station. Here, visitors can climb up to a miniature landscape to admire the distant mountain ranges. It’s also a great spot for cloud-gazing, sunset-watching, and taking in the vast horizon.

From the mountain’s base to its peak, visitors can travel by motorbike or car for about 5 kilometers.

In the summer, Phia Oac offers a pleasant escape from the heat with its cool weather, blue skies, white clouds, and golden sunshine, occasionally veiled by a beautiful mist.

During winter, frost and snow can occur during periods of extreme cold. On the morning of January 11th, the temperature dropped to minus 2 degrees Celsius, causing ice to form on tree branches. By January 12th, the ice had melted as the sun came out.
