Here’s a simple and effective method to grow bean sprouts using a net bag:
1. Ingredients for growing bean sprouts with a net bag
– Whole mung beans
– Clean net bag
2. How to grow bean sprouts using a net bag
Step 1: Soak the mung beans
After purchasing the beans, rinse them to remove any floating beans and debris.
Prepare a bowl of warm water and soak the beans for about 8 hours or overnight. Cover the bowl with a lid.
Once the beans have cracked, rinse them again until the water runs clear. Remove any discolored or dark beans.
Step 2: Put the beans into the net bag
After soaking, place an appropriate amount of beans into the net bag according to its size.
Tighten the opening of the bag with the provided plastic tie.
Place the net bag with beans into a large pot, ensuring they don’t stack on top of each other. Cover the pot.
Step 3: Care for the sprouts
Keep the pot in a dark place. After about 10-12 hours, water the sprouts.
Open the lid and pour clean water directly into the pot until the beans are submerged. Soak for about 10 minutes, then drain the water. Wait until the water in the bag has drained completely, and the bottom of the pot is dry before returning the bag to the pot. Cover and place back in the dark corner.
Water the sprouts twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.
After 1-2 days, the beans will sprout. At this point, gradually open the bag a little to allow the sprouts to grow. Don’t cut too much, as this will hinder growth, but don’t leave it too loose, or the sprouts will become thin and develop excessive roots.
Step 4: Harvest the sprouts
With this method, you can harvest the sprouts in about 4 days. After harvesting, shake off any remaining green husks from the net bag.
If you have any leftovers, place them in a zipper bag, squeeze out the air, seal it tightly, and store it in the refrigerator to keep the sprouts fresh for a few days.
3. Final Product
Growing sprouts this way is incredibly simple, and the results are beautiful, fragrant sprouts. They’re perfect as a fresh side dish with rice.
