Tuyệt Tình Cốc: Exploring Vietnam’s Enchanting ‘Lakes of Lost Love’
Vietnam boasts of several enchanting locations dubbed ‘Tuyệt Tình Cốc’, which translates to ‘Lake of Lost Love’. These sites, scattered across the country, offer breathtaking natural landscapes that allure locals and tourists alike.
One such place is found in Ninh Binh, where a majestic lake sits amidst towering limestone mountains. Spanning an area of 200 hectares, the lake boasts crystal clear waters with a depth of 10 to 15 meters. Visitors can enjoy a boat ride or kayak across the lake, taking in the surrounding majestic mountains, mysterious caves, and lush greenery.
Tuyệt Tình Cốc in Hai Phong
In 2017, a man-made lake in Hai Phong’s Trai Son Mountain gained fame as the ‘Tuyệt Tình Cốc of Vietnam’. Spanning 20 hectares and with a depth of 30-40 meters, this lake captivates with its vivid blue waters, surrounded by limestone cliffs. The unique color is a result of the surrounding limestone and the presence of explosives used in previous mining activities.
While it initially gained attention for controversial photoshoots, it has since become a popular tourist destination. However, it’s important to note that the lake may contain chemical residues from past mining activities, which could pose health risks.
Tuyệt Tình Cốc in Da Lat
Located about 30 kilometers from Da Lat, this self-styled ‘Tuyệt Tình Cốc’ enchants with its emerald-green lake and towering cliffs. The site, once a stone quarry, now offers a serene and picturesque setting reminiscent of ancient Chinese dramas. In 2018, local authorities decided to close the site to ensure visitor safety due to the deep waters and challenging terrain. However, plans to reopen this beautiful spot are underway.
Tuyệt Tình Cốc in Cao Bang
Cao Bang’s ‘Tuyệt Tình Cốc’ has taken social media by storm with its pristine beauty. Nestled amidst lush mountains, this lake presents a serene mirror-like surface reflecting the surrounding nature. Visitors can enjoy activities like boating, fishing, and camping. The tranquil atmosphere and stunning scenery make it an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Tuyệt Tình Cốc in Vung Tau
Vung Tau’s version of ‘Tuyệt Tình Cốc’ is known as Ho Da Xanh, a captivating lake surrounded by tall mountains.
