Buddha’s Garden of Awakening – “First Light”

The first light of dawn illuminates the mind as the door to the Buddha hall gently opens. The morning rays signal a new day, inviting you to find peace in knowing that you have a path to follow in life. Lighting a candle, burning incense, and offering a bowl of pure water, we pay homage to the Creator, Earth, Heaven, and our Ancestors with a heart full of gratitude. Life awakens!

Dawn with the OM-AH-HUM Bell – “The Call to Awakening”

In the vast space of the Sunrise Garden, the sun’s rays spread a golden hue across the sand. Walking barefoot, we connect with Mother Earth, our steps in sync with the ocean waves and our breath. OM AH HUM… The sound of the Great Hong Bell resonates with the breath of the earth and sky, mingling with the scent of incense, guiding our minds back to the vastness of the prairie, adorned with flowers and grass. We remind ourselves to smile, speak words of harmony, and walk with steadiness… embracing a peaceful day.

Avalokitesvara Garden – “Listening to Life”

The Avalokitesvara Pavilion exudes faith and the belief that “love is a great power” – a power that helps us listen to ourselves and each other.

“Breathe in with ease… breathe out with relaxation… ease and relaxation”

Your breath brings you back to the present. “What is the state of my life? Can I master my breath?” Seeing the source, the pulse, and the preciousness of life, we learn to cherish it and, in turn, cherish ourselves. Return to your heart, filled with love!

Trúc Lâm Garden – “Forgiveness and Generosity”

The gentle sound of flowing water alongside the noble bamboo grove conveys a beautiful message about the virtue of “a chivalrous and honorable person.” Each bamboo tree stands as a lesson in resilience, and every bamboo leaf offers a forgiving smile.

Padme Tea Garden – “A Place of Gathering”

“Seeing the light and hearing the sound with the spirit of a noble person” is when we gather. This space is perfect for tea, with tables designed according to the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. The warmth of the water, the aroma of the tea, the smiles, and the heartfelt conversations create a haven for wise souls to meet.

“In the midst of a bustling life,
I sit down with tea,
Borrowing the additional affinity of fire and water,
Nurturing body and mind within me.”

Whether it’s Zen tea or Tea Ceremony, the gift we offer each other is the warm and joyful energy it brings.

Mani Kitchen – “A Touch of Life”

Eating to satisfy hunger and enjoy delicious flavors is a blessing, but eating with gratitude and mindfulness is a greater blessing. At Mani Kitchen, before partaking, we take a moment to read the “Gratitude Verse” as an expression of thanks to the food, those who grew and prepared it, and the circumstances that brought us here.

Each meal is a practice of mindfulness, nurturing compassion and gratitude with every breath. When mindful eating is combined with a nutritious diet, we nourish not only our bodies but also our minds. Every sip of water, every bite of food… every moment of gratitude for Heaven and Earth, our Parents, Teachers, and Friends – what could be more meaningful!

Bodhi Garden – “A Big Heart”

The Bodhi Garden is a place of pause before entering and exiting the Maha Mangala space. The Bodhi tree symbolizes not only strength and time but also a “big heart” that remains constant, always oriented towards the light of love, understanding, empathy, and kindness.

Each day, we offer a “peaceful seed” – one for ourselves and one for others. We give a lotus bud, a smile, a kind look, words of encouragement and praise, and honest advice – a true, close, and simple life. With a “Bodhi heart,” Maha Mangala vows to contribute a “peaceful seed” to the lives of all beings and the world. May peace prevail everywhere!
