Electric kettles are a common household appliance. After a period of use, scale and dirt can accumulate inside the kettle. The contact point between the kettle and the power base can also be affected by dirt and dust buildup. To address this, cleaning the kettle is necessary.
To clean the dirt and scale on the base and contact point of the kettle, you will need a small cotton swab and some alcohol.
Wrap the cotton tightly around the swab and dip it in rubbing alcohol (or spirits) and clean the base of the kettle, including the crevices on the base (be sure to unplug the kettle from the power outlet before cleaning).
Wipe thoroughly to remove dirt and scale buildup in the crevices and grooves of the base and the body of the kettle.
After wiping, you can proceed to clean the inside of the kettle, removing any scale deposits that have formed. There are several methods you can use to descale the kettle, such as:
– Using baking soda
Baking soda can help dissolve scale buildup inside the kettle. Simply add baking soda to the kettle and fill it with water. Bring to a boil, then pour out the water. Rinse the kettle with clean water. If there is still scale buildup, you can use a dishwashing sponge to gently scrub the kettle, which will help loosen the scale. Rinse the kettle with clean water.
– Using eggshells
Rinse eggshells thoroughly, then crush them and add them to the kettle. Fill the kettle with water and bring it to a boil. Occasionally stir the eggshells inside the kettle using chopsticks. Once the water boils, turn off the heat, pour out the water and eggshells, and rinse the kettle with clean water.
– Using coca-cola
Carbonated soft drinks can effectively clean scale buildup in kettles. You can pour coca-cola into the kettle and let it sit for about an hour. Pour out the liquid and use a cloth to wipe away any loosened scale, then rinse the kettle with clean water.
To enhance the cleaning effect, you can pour coca-cola into the kettle and bring it to a boil. Use a wooden spoon to stir the liquid in the kettle for a few minutes, allowing the scale to dissolve into the coca-cola. Afterward, pour out the liquid and rinse the kettle with clean water.
For the exterior of the kettle, simply use a clean cloth to wipe away any dirt or stains. During the process of boiling water or cleaning the kettle, be sure to prevent water from entering the crevices and electrical contacts of the kettle.
