It is believed that every year, around the intersection between the 30th of the 12th lunar month (or the 29th day of the deficient month) and the 1st day of the 1st lunar month (the Lunar New Year), from 23:00 to 01:00 (the New Year’s Eve), the God of Wealth goes on patrol in the mortal world. Therefore, this is the ideal time to perform the ritual to welcome the God of Wealth for the new year of Giap Thin 2024. According to feng shui experts, the whole family, including the elderly and children, should participate in this event as it shows the highest respect for the God of Wealth.
However, you can perform the ritual at any convenient time during the year.
Good Direction to Welcome the God of Wealth
Next, it is important to determine the right and auspicious direction for the good gods. In the year of Giap Thin, the good direction to welcome the God of Wealth is the Southeast. It is crucial to use a compass before welcoming the God of Wealth to accurately determine these directions and avoid accidentally inviting the God of Wealth into the house in the wrong direction, which may bring about misfortune.

Preparing the Offerings
According to the tradition of welcoming the God of Wealth into the house in 2024, the offerings include 5 types of fruits:
Bananas: Symbolizing “attracting joyous events and achieving great plans”.
Pineapples: Symbolizing “luck and prosperous development”.
Oranges: Signifying “the bitterness turning into sweetness, a sweet and happy life”.
Tangerines: Representing “wishes turning into reality and encountering much luck in the new year”.
Pears: Signifying “keeping away from misfortune”.
Fresh flowers: Although not obligatory, if prepared, it is recommended to use flowers of 3 to 7 different colors.
Avoid using fake flowers, thorny plants, or flowers with negative meanings.
Pastry: Pineapple cakes, biscuits, candies, and gold bar-shaped chocolates.
Tea and Wine: Tea symbolizes dispelling misfortune, illness, and driving away evil spirits. Prepare 3 cups of tea. Wine represents sincerity and reverence in worshiping gods. Prepare 3 cups of rice wine. 2 candles symbolizing wealth and showing respect and sincerity to the gods. 3 incense sticks: Since this is the “Year of the Dragon,” it symbolizes the soaring dragon crossing the sea, so light 3 incense sticks. These incense sticks should be used by the male head of the family or the person leading the ceremony.
After completing the ritual, the candles can be placed in a container filled with aromatic ash (preferably high-grade golden sand).
1 plate of rice, 1 plate of salted eggs, 2 gold or silver pieces, and coins symbolizing attracting wealth and dispelling bad luck.
“Braised Pork Trio” dish
Consisting of a piece of pork belly, a salted duck egg, and a shrimp or crab (the trio is said to be the dishes that the God of Wealth enjoys when he visits the mortal world). The altar
used for the ritual can be square or rectangular but must be stable, with all legs of equal length and the altar remaining stable even when shaken. A large piece of red fabric or red paper should be placed on the altar, and it is important to have a dedicated tablecloth to welcome the God of Wealth.

Preparing and dressing
After taking a clean bath, everyone in the family should change into clean clothes, even wearing lucky red shirts and prepare to welcome the God of Wealth with a joyful soul. Place the offerings on the altar covered with a red fabric or red paper. Then, check three times to ensure that all the ritual objects are complete.
Light and Music
Because the God of Wealth does not enter dark rooms, all the lights in the house should be turned on, and cheerful music should be played. Make sure the entrance is clean and not obstructed by shoes or other objects.
Determine the Direction
In 2024, the God of Wealth will descend from the South. You should use a smartphone or compass to accurately determine the direction. Start the ceremony When the auspicious hour arrives, the host reverently offers tea, lights candles and incense to worship the God of Wealth.
Performing the Ritual
After the chanting, the host lights incense sticks and places them in the incense burner, then other family members will follow in order from the eldest to the youngest to place their incense sticks. When the incense is burned to a third, burn the gold foil.
Then, the host holds the statue of the God of Wealth and respectfully invites the God of Wealth into the house. (Note: The statue must face forward, in the same direction as everyone else.)
Other family members should follow with coins and gold or silver items. After entering the house, the host places the statue of the God of Wealth beside the altar, in visible and beautiful positions, either in the living room or near the entrance.
The whole family should spend some time in the living room, imagining the God of Wealth as a guest in the house. Chat together, eat some snacks, and maintain a joyful and comfortable atmosphere.
Chanting to welcome the God of Wealth
Basically, the ritual to welcome the God of Wealth into the house in 2024 is not much different from the usual ritual on the 1st day of the Lunar New Year. Specifically, it goes as follows: Nam Mô A Di Đà Phật! (3 times) I respectfully pay homage to the divine trinity in Heaven, the gods of the ten directions, and the ten gods of the directions.
I respectfully pay homage to the Heavenly Emperor and the Earthly Deities. I respectfully pay homage to the Kitchen God on the 3rd day of the last month. I respectfully pay homage to the God of Wealth. I respectfully pay homage to the gods and goddesses, and the Earth Deities who govern this land.

Residing at… (the specific address where the ritual takes place). Today is the 30th day of the lunar month, in the lunar year of Giap Mao, dispelling the cold winter winds, banishing misfortune, welcoming the Spring Festival, permeating with gentle rain, and everything is renewed.
In every place of worship, in every corner, on this New Year’s Day, I, the believer, have prepared incense and flowers, arranged offerings on the altar, and respectfully invited the gods. I humbly pray for the divine presence, the early arrival before the altar, witnessing our heartfelt gratitude for receiving the offerings. I wish for the good health and abundant prosperity of all the members of our family.
I hope that the Heavenly Deities and the Earthly Deities will bless and protect the head of the household, ensure that the coming year will be filled with great wealth, encounter much luck, and be free from harm. In the beginning and the middle of the year, may all endeavors be successful, wishes fulfilled, and desires achieved. Our silver ritual has been sincerely offered, we respectfully bow before the altar, and humbly seek the divine presence and protection. Nam Mô A Di Đà Phật! (3 times)
Notes:
The worship area and its surroundings must be clean and solemn. It is absolutely prohibited to place the altar near the toilet, kitchen, or dirty area.
Avoid inviting the Earth Deities during the Ghost Festival (the 7th lunar month).
On the altar, there must be 3 cups for wine, salt, and rice, as well as a bowl of fresh water.
