Before the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, both “first ladies” in the two regions of the country were born in Tien Giang. Why does a newly developed land on the Tien River have the most “queens” in the country? Of course, Tien Giang’s young women must be beautiful (a necessary condition to become a queen), but what else is there? And why do the young women here captivate the hearts of the kings?
Go Cong, Tien Giang is the region with the most queens in the Southwestern region. During the Nguyen dynasty, it was the homeland of 2 queens: Nghi Thien Chuong Queen (Duc Tu Du) and Nam Phuong Queen Nguyen Huu Thi Lan – the last queen of the feudal dynasties of Vietnam.
Go Cong is located in the East of Tien Giang province, 60 km north of Ho Chi Minh City and 35 km west of My Tho city. Go Cong’s name originates from ancient times, when this land was inhabited by many storks. Nowadays, Go Cong is also one of the tourist attractions in the Western river region.
Tan Thanh Beach, also known as Go Cong Beach, is located in Tan Thanh commune, Go Cong town, 50 km from downtown My Tho. This beach stretches for about 7 km, with impressive black sand dunes. Tan Thanh is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Southwestern region, chosen by tourists as a stop to admire the scenery and enjoy seafood dishes.
The ten o’clock flower road is located in the middle of a rice field in Go Cong town, which once caused a stir on social media and attracted tourists to visit and take photos.
Hai Governor’s House is located at 49 Hai Ba Trung Street and is one of the must-visit destinations for tourists whenever they visit Go Cong. Hai Governor’s House has an impressive and unique design, combining European and Vietnamese architecture. Despite going through many historical ups and downs, this house still retains many features from its early days. In July 1994, Hai Governor’s House was classified as a national historical-cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism). Thanks to this famous house, tourism in Go Cong has developed, making it a suitable place for those who love to travel and explore the beauty of history.
Go Cong Provincial Residence (also known as Chanh Tham Governor’s Residence) is one of the first and largest provincial governor’s residences in the Southwestern region (more beautiful than My Tho Governor’s Residence and other provinces). This residence (currently located on Nguyen Van Con Street, Ward 2, Go Cong town) is a majestic two-story house with a total usable area of 1,400 square meters, situated in a beautiful and spacious area.
In addition to Go Cong, Tien Giang has many attractive tourist destinations. Especially, visiting Tien Giang means visiting the largest fruit orchard in the country. With over 75,000 hectares of fruit trees and a production of more than 1.3 million tons, Tien Giang is known as the “Kingdom of Fruits” of Vietnam.
Thoi Son Island is an attractive tourist destination located on the Tien River, also known as Thoi Son Island, now belonging to Thoi Son commune, My Tho city, Tien Giang province.
