Sleeping habits can affect the shape of a child’s structure. So if you see your child falling into the following cases, please adjust it for them.
Mouth breathing while sleeping
Breathing through the nose helps to breathe more cleanly, push the flow of bacteria out. Meanwhile, mouth breathing is quite shallow. Moreover, when breathing through the mouth, the pushing force of the breath will cause the jaw to retract, crooked teeth, thick and protruding lips, and protruding teeth. Normally, we will breathe through the nose, only when the nose is blocked, we breathe through the mouth. But young children sometimes breathe through their mouths because they are not timely treated for blocked nose. Therefore, observe if you see your child breathing through their mouth, resolve the nasal congestion for them. If the child is not congested but still breathes through the mouth, train them, in case you can’t fix it, you can take them to the doctor for help. Difficulty breathing through the nose also affects overall health, making it easier to get bronchitis, pneumonia, and affecting the child’s brain.
Lying tilted to one side
Because the child’s bones are still soft, lying tilted to one side for a long time will cause head deformation, spinal deviation… Gradually, this will affect the child’s development. Therefore, you need to reshape it for your child. Sometimes the child will cry. But you can be patient, then use a pillow to change the lying position for them. Lying tilted to one side will make the face asymmetrical, and the ears will be flattened.
Stretching the arms while sleeping
Stretching the arms while sleeping increases the risk of affecting the child’s spinal development. This makes the spine prone to curvature and deformation, sleeping for a long time like this can make it difficult for the child to grow taller, and easily lead to spinal deformities. Stretching the arms while sleeping can also make the child not sleep well and increase the risk of falling under the bed, and the harmful consequence is falling and hitting the head.
Child lying face down for a long time
Many newborns may have a habit of lying face down while sleeping because they are in a curled up position in the mother’s womb, the stomach facing inward and the back outward. So lying face down makes many children feel comfortable. However, if lying face down for a long time, it can compress and deform the face, poor blood circulation, asymmetrical cheeks, sometimes the child cannot turn their face, which can cause suffocation and affect brain development.
So you should pay attention to the child’s sleeping posture, you should let them lie inclined, face down, face up regularly to maintain a more balanced posture.
