Instead of expensive red fish, when going to the market you can choose to buy these types of fish because they are cheap and nutritious, and they taste great.
Ricefish
Ricefish is a small fish that lives in saltwater areas. In Vietnam, the habitat of ricefish extends to most coastal areas from North to South.
The US Department of Agriculture said that ricefish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, protein, vitamins, and minerals. They also contain good fats, which are good for the heart.
In July 2019, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) included ricefish on the list of best types of fish.
One reason ricefish is classified as a “clean” fish is because of their short life cycle, which means they have a lower ability to accumulate toxins in their bodies compared to other fish species.
Catfish
Spring is the season of catfish, with their characteristic white and silver bodies, blackish gray backs, tender and sweet flesh, and few bones. This type of fish has low fat content and contains a balanced amount of omega-3 fatty acids. You can cook, braise, or grill catfish for your family. Catfish is both sweet and fragrant, making it a favorite dish.
Tilapia
Tilapia is a type of fish that has a mild flavor, is very healthy, has white meat, and is low in fat. It is also one of the easiest fish to catch. Tilapia often migrates in large schools.
Tilapia contains a lot of omega-3 fatty acids, which are known to produce DHA, an essential compound that plays an important role in brain development, enhances brain health, is good for the heart, and helps regulate blood pressure.
Carp
Carp has a sweet taste, a neutral nature, and is rich in protein and vitamins. Carp is well-known for its mildness and nutritional richness, and is often used by pregnant women as a supplement. In particular, it is recommended for people with water retention, watery diarrhea, jaundice, urinary retention, and edema during pregnancy to include carp in their diet.
Sardine
Sardines have silver-white bodies, a lot of flesh, and small bones, which is why some people avoid them. However, this type of fish has a higher calcium content than milk. 85 grams of sardines can provide 325mg of calcium, while 85 grams of milk only contains 276mg of calcium. Eating 10 grams of sardines is enough to provide the body’s daily requirement of fat.
Sardines are also rich in vitamin D and DHA, which enhance immunity and are good for pregnant women.
These are the types of fish that the Japanese people love because they are clean and less affected by environmental pollution.
Mullet
Mullet contains many nutrients, especially omega-3, which has the effect of treating joint pain and reducing inflammation and pain. Mullet is often sold in the market at a very affordable price.
Mullet contains very little fat and has a low cholesterol content compared to other meats, so it helps reduce cholesterol levels in the blood and strengthens the immune system with regular consumption.
