It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that bananas are one of the most beloved fruits. Not only do they have a delicious taste, but they also have a rich source of nutrients and help to treat many diseases.

Bananas contain healthy fiber, vitamins B, potassium, vitamin C… which help improve digestion, aid in weight loss, support cardiovascular health… and are suitable for those on a diet.

In addition to eating bananas directly, you can also use this fruit to make tea, dried bananas, cakes… or make caramelized bananas according to this recipe.

1. Ingredients for caramelized bananas

– Small bananas: 3

– Flour: 50 grams

– Eggs: 1

– Starch: 50 grams

– Spices: 150 grams white sugar, 1 tablespoon cooking oil

2. Steps to make caramelized bananas

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients

– Peel and slice the bananas into bite-sized pieces.

– In a small bowl, add 50 grams of flour and 50 grams of starch. Then add 1 egg and a little cooking oil. Add enough water and mix the ingredients together with a cooking utensil. Do not add too little or too much water, as it will make the mixture too runny or thick.

Step 2: Coat the bananas with flour and fry

– Dip the small banana pieces into the prepared mixture so that each piece is evenly coated with a thin layer of flour.

– Heat a pan, add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, and wait until the oil is about 70% hot before frying the bananas.

– Remove the bananas from the pan once the outer layer turns slightly golden and place them on a plate to drain excess oil.

Step 3: Caramelize the bananas

– Take another pan, add a little cooking oil, and pour about 150 grams of sugar into it.

– Turn on the heat and quickly stir until the sugar is dissolved and turns a light yellow color. Then add the fried banana pieces and stir them evenly.

– Wait until the sugar sticks to each piece of banana, then transfer them to a bowl.

– To make the dish more attractive, you can dip a chopstick into the remaining sugar in the pan, move it around the surface of the bananas to create thin sugar threads. When cooled, these sugar threads will harden and complement the caramelized bananas.

The caramelized bananas, after being processed, have a beetle-like color and a sweet and enticing aroma. This is also a delicious dish that is suitable for enjoying on cold winter days.

3. Note when making caramelized bananas

– Although overripe bananas can be used to make caramelized bananas, you should still avoid ones that are too ripe or mashed. Choose bananas that are of a moderate size because if the bananas are too large, they may have been treated with growth enhancers, and if the bananas are too small, most of them will be immature and unripe.

– Bananas, despite being delicious and nutritious, are not suitable for people with renal insufficiency, stomach pain, diabetes… or sometimes on an empty stomach or during menstruation.

– You can also add cooking oil and a few slices of ginger and remove them before adding the bananas.
