Hồng Loan is a mother of five children and has been residing in the late artist Vũ Linh’s home with her family. Since his passing, she has been selling goods online to support her family and has also been performing in various music programs with the help of fellow artists.

The dispute over the late artist Vũ Linh’s inheritance has garnered significant public interest. Following the first trial on January 7th, the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City ruled that artist Hồng Nhung (Vũ Linh’s sister) would receive 15% of the inheritance, while Hồng Loan (Vũ Linh’s legal daughter) would be entitled to the remaining 85%. This includes a house and land on Đoàn Thị Điểm Street in Phu Nhuan District, 3,007 square meters of land in Thu Duc City, and a car.
Despite winning the case, Hồng Loan filed an appeal, refusing to let her aunt, Hồng Nhung, receive any portion of her father’s inheritance. She stated: “I didn’t initiate the lawsuit, nor did I ask for any division of assets. The land and car are still under my father’s name, and I cannot accept them getting a share. I’d rather donate that portion to charity and accumulate good deeds for my father than let those without a conscience benefit from it. I will not divide it under any circumstances.”
Both Hồng Loan and Hồng Nhung filed appeals in the inheritance dispute.

Similarly, Hồng Nhung filed an appeal, contesting the decision to recognize Hồng Loan as a legal heir and grant her 85% of the inheritance. She requested the appellate court to determine that Vũ Linh had no first-degree heirs and that she and her brother, Võ Thành Nhiêu, be recognized as second-degree heirs, entitled to the entire estate.
More than two years after the passing of the “Emperor of cải lương,” the family dispute over his inheritance remains unresolved.
