1. Ingredients for marinated quail eggs

– Quail eggs: 30 eggs

– Chili, garlic

– Turnip: 1 piece

– Shallot: ¼ bulb

– Scallions, seaweed

– Seasonings: Soy sauce, sugar

2. Steps to make marinated quail eggs

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients

– After purchasing quail eggs, wash them with water and then cook them in boiling water. When the quail eggs are cooked, you can let them cool down and peel the shells off.

– Peel the garlic and thinly slice it.

– Wash the chili, remove the stem, and cut it diagonally into 3 pieces. Depending on your preference, you can use green or red chili.

– Peel off the outer layer of shallot, wash it and cut it into wedges.

– Remove any damaged or withered leaves from scallions, wash them, and cut them into sections.

Step 2: Boil the eggs

– Place the pot on the stove, add a 6x6cm piece of seaweed, ¼ bulb of shallot, scallions, turnip, 60ml soy sauce, 3 tablespoons of sugar, and about 360ml of water.

– Then, add the peeled quail eggs and simmer them for about 3 minutes on medium heat.

Step 3: Prepare the soy sauce

– Remove the seaweed and continue boiling the pot of eggs for another 6 minutes.

– After that, remove the shallot, turnip, and scallions from the pot. Then add the sliced garlic and chili and cook for another 5 minutes before turning off the heat.

– Wait for the marinated quail eggs to cool down a bit, then transfer them to a plate and enjoy.

After being cooked, marinated quail eggs will have an incredibly appealing color. When eating, you can feel the fragrant, rich taste of quail eggs combined with savory soy sauce, creating a very attractive and slightly spicy flavor. Marinated quail eggs are best enjoyed with hot rice and are suitable for both adults and children. Especially, during the cold winter days, you can prepare this dish quickly without spending too much time and still have a hearty meal.

3. Notes when making marinated quail eggs

– When choosing quail eggs, you should choose ones with beautiful, firm outer shells and avoid those with vein lines.

– One way to check whether quail eggs are good is to drop them into a glass of water. If the eggs lie horizontally and sink, they are good quality eggs. On the contrary, the ones that float on the water surface are usually old eggs, which may have lost their nutritional value or even gone bad.

– Although quail eggs are very nutritious, people with low blood sugar, low blood pressure, allergies, or cholesterol problems should avoid consuming them excessively.

– For children aged 5 to 12, you should only give them 1-2 quail eggs a day, while older children and adults can consume 5 to 10 eggs per day.
