A Delicious Way to Steam Shrimp with Lemongrass
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
Start by choosing fresh large shrimp, preferably still alive, to ensure the shrimp remain firm and tasty after steaming. As the shrimp are from the sea, they may have a strong fishy smell. Rinse them thoroughly and remove any visible veins to reduce this odor.
If the shrimp have long whiskers, trim them, and use a sharp knife or needle-nose pliers to remove the thin black vein running along their back. Finally, rinse the shrimp in a mild salt water solution, drain, and lightly season with salt. Let the shrimp marinate for 5-7 minutes to enhance their flavor.

For the lemongrass, wash it thoroughly, cut it into halves, and gently pound it. There is no need to chop or blend the lemongrass.
Step 2: Steam the Shrimp
At this stage, you can choose one of the following methods that best suits your convenience.
Step 3: Steaming Shrimp in a Regular Pot
Prepare a clean large pot. Line the bottom with a layer of lemongrass, then arrange the shrimp on top, and finally, add another layer of lemongrass on top of the shrimp. Pour in about 1/3 of the can of beer and close the lid tightly.
Turn on the heat to medium and steam the shrimp until the beer starts to boil and the shrimp turn red. Continue steaming for another 5-7 minutes to allow the beer to evaporate and reduce. Once the beer has reduced significantly, the shrimp are ready. Turn off the heat and serve the shrimp immediately while they’re still hot.
