Ingredients for BBQ Ribs
– 1 kg pork ribs
– 1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
– 1 tablespoon chili sauce
– 1/2 tablespoon black bean sauce
– 1 tablespoon tomato paste
– 1 tablespoon honey
– 1 tablespoon soy sauce
– 1/2 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine (Mai Que Luu)
– A dash of dark soy sauce
– 1.5 tablespoons oil with fried shallots and garlic
– Common seasonings: pepper, fish sauce, sugar, salt, cooking oil
How to Make Delicious BBQ Ribs at Home
Step 1: Prepare the Ribs
Rub the ribs with salt for about 2-3 minutes and then rinse with water. You can also use rice vinegar or wine to eliminate any unpleasant odors. Alternatively, you can blanch the ribs in boiling water with a few crushed ginger slices and then rinse them again.
Step 2: Marinate the Ribs
Combine 1 tablespoon of Chinese five-spice powder, 1 tablespoon of oil with fried shallots and garlic (or regular oil), 1/2 tablespoon of Chinese cooking wine, 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of MSG, 2/3 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/3 teaspoon of pepper to create a delicious marinade.
Toss the ribs with this mixture, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Step 3: Cook the Ribs
Place the marinated ribs in a pressure cooker and cook for 3 minutes until tender.
Step 4: Make the Sauce
In a separate bowl, mix together 1 tablespoon of chili sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of black bean sauce, 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, 1/2 tablespoon of oil with fried shallots and garlic, 1 tablespoon each of honey, soy sauce, and dark soy sauce, and 1/3 teaspoon of pepper. Brush this sauce onto the ribs and place them on a preheated electric grill. Cook until the ribs are fragrant and slightly charred.

After the ribs are cooked, place them on the electric grill, brush with the sauce, and grill until all sides are fragrant and slightly charred.
