Wearing the incorrect bra size can have a significant impact on both the health and appearance of women. In this article, we will provide detailed instructions on how to easily measure your bra size at home.
Key Points to Keep in Mind
- Start by measuring the band size using a tape measure around your rib cage. Then, determine the cup size by measuring your bust and subtracting the band measurement.
- It’s important to note that different bust sizes require different bra styles. For instance, if you have a small bust, bras with underwire and push-up pads are recommended. On the other hand, if you have a droplet-shaped bust, underwire bras are recommended.
- To ensure the most suitable bra style and a flattering fit, try on bras while wearing a fitted shirt.
Measuring Your Bra Size
Measuring the Band Size
Place the tape measure just below your bust, making sure it is horizontally aligned and snug against your body. Look at the end point of the tape measure and record the measurement.
If the measurement is an odd number, try bras that are 1 inch smaller or larger than your measurement. For example, if you measured 31 inches (78.7 cm), the bra size may be 30 or 32.
If the measurement is an even number, choose a bra that matches the measurement exactly.
Measuring the Bust Size
Lean forward so that your bust is parallel to the ground, allowing you to measure all breast tissues. Wrap the tape measure around your body, ensuring it goes across the fullest part of your bust. The tape measure should be snug but not digging into your skin. Record the measurement.
Determining the Cup Size
After obtaining the band size and bust size, calculate the difference between the two measurements. This difference determines the cup size. Your bra size is the combination of the band size and cup size, for example, 36B or 42C.
