Recently, the beloved “San San” delighted her fans with a series of photos showcasing her family’s orange harvest. Due to this being a leap year, by early December in the lunar calendar, the orange trees in Diệu Hương’s garden had already ripened, their fruits glowing in a vibrant golden hue, signaling the approaching Lunar New Year.
The beauty shared: “Each season has its treasures, and harvesting fruits from our garden brings a unique joy. On weekends, the neighborhood kids often visit, filling the garden with their laughter. Under Linh’s guidance, their tiny hands carefully pick the ripest oranges to offer to our ancestors. Their pure smiles are simply adorable! The peach blossoms have also begun to bloom. Tết is just around the corner!”
Diệu Hương proudly displayed the ripe, golden oranges and shared: “This leap year, our oranges ripened early in December. Over the weekend, we invited the neighborhood children to join us in harvesting oranges to offer to our ancestors.”

The mature orange trees in Diệu Hương’s garden are now heavy with fruit, their clusters of oranges hanging low over the lush green grass, creating a scene of abundance.

The radiant yellow of the ripe fruits stands out against the deep green foliage, a testament to the family’s meticulous care throughout the year.

Beyond just harvesting fruit, Diệu Hương’s garden is a hub for community bonding. On weekends, her family often invites neighborhood children to join in the fun.

Under the guidance of her husband, Linh, the children eagerly select the juiciest oranges to offer to their ancestors.

Diệu Hương shared emotionally: “Our lovely garden, filled with the quick, tiny hands of children, their laughter brightening the space, brings such joy as we welcome the new month together!”

Even a partially eaten orange by a bird is seen by Diệu Hương as a sign of “blessed land attracting birds.” The feeling of touching the fruits of their labor and inhaling the fresh orange scent in the cool air is a priceless experience she deeply cherishes.

The most perfect, round oranges are carefully selected to offer on the family altar during the first day of the lunar month, with utmost reverence.

This spiritual tradition is diligently maintained by Diệu Hương, helping her children understand the importance of gratitude toward their ancestors and roots.

Last year, Diệu Hương also proudly showcased her garden’s oranges and kumquats. She offered them to Buddha, her ancestors, and shared them with neighbors, a tradition she continues this year.

Alongside the fruitful orange trees, Diệu Hương’s garden also boasts blooming peach blossoms—a harbinger of spring, reminding her family of their traditions despite living halfway across the globe.

Maintaining the garden not only provides her family with fresh produce but also allows Diệu Hương to preserve their heritage, creating a distinctly Vietnamese living space in America.
