1. Ineffective Cleaning
If you’ve ever used a floor washing machine, you’ll know that its biggest drawback is its poor cleaning performance. I once spilled soy sauce on the floor and used a vacuum cleaner to mop it up, but the stain just smeared across the floor.
Additionally, it’s very easy to leave water marks and stains during the cleaning process, especially on glossy tiles, which often end up with streaks similar to those left on uncleaned glass.
2. Noisy Operation
Floor washing machines emit a similar level of noise to cordless vacuum cleaners when in use. While it’s tolerable, what’s unacceptable is the noise produced by its self-drying function.
Many floor washing machines have an automatic cleaning and drying function for the roller to prevent prolonged wetness. However, this function can run for up to an hour, during which you have to endure a constant, annoying buzzing sound.
3. Develops an Unpleasant Odor Over Time
After three months of regular use, the body of the machine started to emit a strong, musty odor. I admit that many floor washing machines have self-cleaning functions, but their effectiveness is questionable.
Regardless of the speed or intensity of the water discharge, most floor washing machines fail to thoroughly clean the roller and dirt collection tube. Over time, bacteria build up, and the odor becomes more pronounced.
4. Short Battery Life and Long Charging Time
Floor washing machines have a short battery life and often can’t last through a whole house cleaning session. In some cases, the battery dies after just cleaning the living room and bedroom.
This issue isn’t limited to larger houses over 100 square meters; it also occurs in smaller homes ranging from 70 to 80 square meters.
Not only do these machines have short battery lives, but they also take a long time to charge, typically requiring over two hours to fully charge.
5. Inconvenient for Cleaning Corners
The cleaning head of a floor washing machine is quite large, making it cumbersome to clean corners and tight spaces.
Some beds or low-slung sofas may be inaccessible to the machine due to its large cleaning head, rendering it useless in those situations.
6. Prone to Breakdowns and Costly Repairs
Frequent exposure to dirt and water increases the likelihood of breakdowns. Repairs for floor washing machines are not cheap and can cost a significant amount.
At this point, a simple, traditional mop seems like a more economical choice.
7. Hair Tangling Around the Roller
Like many robot vacuums and cordless vacuums, these cleaning devices with dirt collection bins often struggle with hair tangling. Hair can wrap around both sides of the roller or get stuck in the drainage channel, making it difficult to remove.
8. Heavy and Cumbersome
Floor washing machines are quite heavy, and for some people, especially women, they are not as flexible and easy to use as a regular mop. After mopping, some users experience wrist pain and fatigue.
