A recent TikTok trend has gone viral, sharing a tip on how to run an air conditioner all night for just 3,000 VND. As this is a topic of great interest during the summer, the video garnered nearly 4 million views in just three days.

According to the TikToker, to run your air conditioner all night for just 3,000 VND, simply follow these three easy steps:

Step 1: Before going to bed, set the temperature to 26 degrees Celsius.

Step 2: Press the MODE button and select the Cool mode (indicated by a snowflake icon on the control panel).

Step 3: Press the Energy Saving button to enable energy-saving mode. If your air conditioner doesn’t have this button, look for an ECO button instead and press it.

Many people in the comments section were intrigued and expressed their interest in trying out this method. Some even claimed to have tested it, although the results varied. One person commented that they had been using this method and only spent about 100,000 VND on electricity for a month, even with the air conditioner running for 15-20 hours a day. Another person asserted that it helped them save up to 40% on their electricity bill.

However, some users disagreed, stating that they didn’t find it practical. They mentioned that when they activated the ECO mode, the cooling effect was not satisfactory, and they woke up in the middle of the night sweating, having to adjust the air conditioner settings.

What is Energy Saving mode?

Energy Saving mode, also known as Energy Saver Mode or Fan Smart Mode, is a feature that significantly reduces the power consumption of air conditioners. When enabled, the compressor and fan turn off once the desired temperature is reached to conserve energy. The fans then automatically turn on and off every 2-3 minutes to check the surrounding temperature. If the temperature rises above the set level, the compressor and fan turn on simultaneously to cool the room.

What is ECO mode?

Similar to Energy Saving mode, ECO mode is also designed to conserve energy. When activated, the air conditioner automatically cools the room and stops once the desired temperature is reached. It restarts when the room temperature rises by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, repeating this cycle throughout its usage.

Research has shown that using ECO mode not only makes people feel more comfortable but also reduces power consumption and prolongs the lifespan of the air conditioner.

Note: When the air conditioner’s temperature is set below 24 degrees Celsius, it is not advisable to use ECO mode. If the set temperature is too low, the ECO mode will automatically turn off, assuming you need rapid cooling, which will result in higher electricity consumption.

Additionally, before going to bed, you can opt for the Sleep mode or set a timer to turn the air conditioner on and off to save energy efficiently.
