After saving up and with support from both families, a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong (aged 33, from Binh Dinh), impressed many with their beautifully designed and modern home.
Their cozy home has a floor area of approximately 70 square meters, featuring a living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms, and a small front yard. “Our house is a long-cherished dream come true for my husband and me. We bought the land in Binh Duong and built the house ourselves. The construction and completion cost us about VND 1.6 billion, and we spent another VND 250 million on furniture and decorations. It was a long and challenging journey for both of us,” shared Mrs. Huong.
The young couple’s home is designed in the Sabiwabi style, inspired by a company’s designs and friends’ and family’s suggestions. Their journey to creating this cozy space involved persistent saving and planning.
“We saved by setting aside a portion of our monthly income, minimizing unnecessary expenses, and maintaining a clear financial plan. I also took on additional accounting work, and my husband’s technical job provided stable additional income. Though we faced challenging times, we never gave up,” the proud mother shared.
During the construction process, their biggest challenge was balancing financial constraints with maintaining the quality and aesthetics of the building. She also shared that, as a non-expert in construction, she often felt confused and relied heavily on the support of acquaintances.
However, after a strenuous journey, the couple now proudly owns a charming home that many dream of. The happy mother expressed, “For me, our house is not just a place to return to but also a milestone of our maturity and efforts. Seeing our house every day brings joy and a sense of accomplishment.
The aspect I am most satisfied with is our living room—a space to welcome family and friends and where we gather to chat. I invested a lot in making it cozy and intimate. However, I slightly regret not being able to work on the garden as initially planned due to budget constraints. But I hope to complete it soon so that our small home will be perfect.”
Sharing her experience in designing such a beautiful, elegant, and modern home, Mrs. Huong advised: “It is essential to plan your finances before starting to build a house, and it is crucial to find a design company that aligns with your tastes. In my opinion, the design stage is the most important as it determines the aesthetics and functionality of the house, so it is worth investing in.”
