If you’re cautious, you can use alcohol wipes (readily available in supermarkets, convenience stores, and pharmacies) to sanitize the remote before use.
A helpful tip for travelers is to boil a kettle of water immediately after checking into your room. Pour the hot water into the toilet bowl. This serves two purposes: it sanitizes the kettle and disinfects the toilet bowl, giving you peace of mind during your stay.
