Lemon squeezing – no cutting required
Prepare 1 lemon and a few toothpicks or sharp sticks
Roll the lemon on the table surface for about 30 seconds. Use the palm of your hand to press and move until the lemon becomes soft. This action breaks the hard skin layer of the lemon, making it easier to extract the juice. Then use a toothpick or sharp stick to pierce the stem end of the lemon to create a small hole.
Remove the toothpick from the lemon, then squeeze the body of the lemon firmly, and you will see the lemon juice flowing out from the stem end of the lemon.
With this method, you can easily extract as much lemon juice as you like without getting any seeds, and without cutting the lemon in half.
In addition, there are other ways to squeeze lemons to get more juice that you can refer to.
Cutting the lemon lengthwise
To get more lemon juice and convenience when squeezing, cut the lemon lengthwise to see the result
Proceed with squeezing the lemon as you normally do, the lemon juice will yield more
Squeeze the lemon in multiple directions
Another tip for getting more lemon juice is to squeeze the lemon in multiple directions
Cutting the lemon into 5 parts to extract the entire pulp
Step 1: Cut off 1/4 of the outermost slice of the lemon lengthwise.
Step 2: Flip the lemon so that the cut side is facing upwards. Then, cut off 1/3 of the outermost slice of the lemon.
Step 3: Proceed to cut in half to remove the outermost slice of the lemon.
Step 4: Flip the lemon horizontally, then cut in half to separate the core of the lemon from the outer edge.
Step 5: Squeeze the lemon: for the outermost slices, fold in half and squeeze the lemon. For the core of the lemon, twist it with your hand and squeeze out all the juice!
How to choose lemons with more juice
Choose lemons by scent
Smell the lemon, if it has a mild, distinctive lemon scent, then it is fresh. However, if the outer skin of the lemon has a black, unpleasant smell, it means the lemons have been sprayed with chemicals and are not good for health.
In addition, try pressing the lemon lightly. A juicy lemon will feel firm when held, and a small amount of essential oil will be released when pressed. Lemon essential oil has a pleasant, non-acrid scent unlike chemically-treated lemons.
Choose lemons by outward appearance
When buying lemons, pay attention to the appearance of the fruit. Juicy lemons are usually small, with thin skin, and a smooth texture when touched.
Select lemons that feel heavy, have a moderate size, and avoid very small lemons as they are still young and don’t have much juice.
