Returning to in-person classes and meeting friends is something that many students and their parents, teachers, and schools have been eagerly awaiting. We are providing an update on the back-to-school schedule for after the 2022 Lunar New Year celebrations so that everyone can be informed.

On January 24, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Document No. 283/BGDĐT-GDTC 2022 on organizing in-person teaching at educational institutions. This document was sent to the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities, requesting that they base their decisions on the local pandemic situation, down to the ward and communal levels, to organize in-person teaching before February 14, 2022, for students.

Back-to-School Schedule for Primary and Secondary Students in 63 Provinces and Cities

All 63 provinces and cities have developed plans for primary and secondary students to return to school after the Lunar New Year celebrations, with the majority of students expected to resume in-person learning between February 7 and 14. Additionally, 60 out of 63 provinces and cities are preparing to welcome preschool and elementary students back to school within February.

In Hanoi, the back-to-school plan for students from grades 7 to 12 in areas with level 1 and 2 outbreaks is to resume in-person learning at schools from February 8. In areas with level 3 and 4 outbreaks, students will continue to study from home after the Lunar New Year.

In Ho Chi Minh City, preschool, elementary, and sixth-grade students will return to school from February 7, 2022, based on the voluntary decision of their parents or guardians:

  • From February 7, educational institutions will prepare to welcome children and students back to school.
  • From February 10 to 13, schools and educational institutions will organize parent-teacher meetings to discuss important issues and collaborate on caring for the children and preventing the spread of COVID-19.
  • Starting February 14, preschool and elementary students will be officially welcomed back to school. If parents or guardians prefer for their children to continue studying online, that option will remain available.

Based on Document No. 283 from the Ministry of Education and Training, all 63 provinces and cities have announced their schedules for in-person teaching for all educational levels after the 2022 Lunar New Year celebrations as follows:

Yes, the school schedule has been adjusted to ensure the safety of students and staff. Online learning will be implemented from February 14-18 for high school students, and from February 21-25 for primary and secondary students.

Students must meet certain health requirements, including having a green health status on the PC-COVID app, and presenting a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours before the first day of school.

The curriculum has been adjusted to make up for the knowledge that students may have missed due to the pandemic. There will be a focus on core subjects, and extra classes will be organized to help students catch up.
